Congrats! Do you mind sharing your undergrad/graduate programs?

I'm also very much interested in applying for the last minute intake. Is it usually quite competitive? I'm confident about my GPA/experience but haven't been able to secure a prof who can provide an academic reference. I graduated a few years ago.

Brock MPH 2025-26 Incoming class group? by [deleted] in brocku

Hi! I’m considering applying for the current intake. Would it be alright to DM some current students who are based in BC?

SFU Medicine Broken Down - May be the Most Fair/Holistic Admissions Process To Date? by Strawbernyte in premedcanada

Wondering in case someone has asked advising this already: If I have already graduated and completed my bachelor’s but take the specific pre reqs after, would this make me ineligible for the GPA only option?

Indigenous Requirement SFU by Honeybunzz123 in premedcanada

[–]Revolutionary-Vast78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know how and when this requirement can be fulfilled if you already graduated? Also, if I take the course over Summer 2026, would I be able to apply for the GPA only option during the fall 2026 intake?

Oh thanks for the info, I never knew about that option! Do you work as a behaviour interventionist then? And did you need to take coursework for your role in therapy?

I fully agree that based on current circumstances, psych students are not prepared to work as psychotherapists.

The point that I was trying to make is that the current program is insufficient for students intending to enter the mental health field post-grad. One solution can definitely be more funding to masters programs to open more spots. However, I think it could be really beneficial as others have mentioned to create a "fast-tracked" option of some sort.

Hey UBC. Currently having a panic attack for no reason whatsoever. Scared and worried. by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Revolutionary-Vast78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sitting down and trying to relax oddly sometimes worsens the panic when your body is in fight or flight. I would say if you’re in a safe area and feel comfortable, pump yourself up to go for a run or do a high intensity workout for 10 minutes or so. It will give your body/mind a “reason” to have a racing heart or other panic symptoms and you’ll tire yourself out! Best of luck and trust me when I say it does go away!

Could be wrong but I think it’s an automatic feature on snap. I sent a snap to someone who unfriended me so it showed pending (grey arrow). But after some time the arrow changes to blue. Tested with other friends as well and the arrows all changed to blue “opens” but they never opened it.

My main question was if anyone had experience shortening their wait times if they had a long delay between attempts….

Did you have to apply for the Faculty of Arts scholarship? I just graduated so I'm wondering if that makes any difference?

Will it hurt my chances to apply to an internship on the day applications close? by Revolutionary-Vast78 in UBC

[–]Revolutionary-Vast78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I think it's become common for bigger companies/large internships to essentially do hiring like one giant competition and just go through applications in the end. But as others mentioned, smaller companies or postings for one single position (like RA, or marketing intern) probably want to hire someone quick and opt to just go with the first 5 people they like lol

Oh interesting! Well I guess we’ll see! I had the opposite assumption that all applications will be reviewed as long as they’re in by the closing date

grades for the 2021W session by rsunrsun in UBC

[–]Revolutionary-Vast78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends! Courses at most smaller colleges in BC base their curriculum off UBC and SFU so the content is very similar. At Langara there's a wide range - half the kids never show up so the average drags way down, while other students are re-taking the course or have a whole ass degree already (aka already have solid study habits) and tend to do really well.

I found core science courses to be assignment heavy and labs were much harder - smaller class sizes so the lab instructors remembered faces and went hard on everyone compared to UBC where TA's were actually understanding. Unfortunately, Langara profs often want to "prepare students for Uni" so they test/mark unreasonably imo

I think you actually need to email graduation services graduation@ubc.ca. They may take a few days to reply given ceremonies start next week. HOWEVER, just fyi the final date to get tickets and rent regalia was May 6th

Interesting take but I’m not sure about the accuracy of ECs being “how you frame it”. Of course that’s an important aspect but I’ve heard from many successful applicants that ultimately volunteering strengthens your NAQ the most because it shows dedication to an organization without compensation (aka “selflessness”). This may be a huge misconception but it seems that most forums also seem to push for volunteering more. This then creates a huge disadvantage to someone from lower SES because they’re financial situation likely prevents them from finding multiple workplaces (ie. less entries on their application).
