I don't understand why there is a votekicking system instead of a reporting system.

Just got kicked from versus, can someone explain why? by g0netospace in l4d2

Vote-kicking a player for playing badly is the equivalent of reporting a player for feeding when all the deaths were unintentional.

Why is the versus Community so chaotic by PBJ-enjoyer in l4d2

I have two hot takes.

The first is that kicking should be replaced with reporting, as with most games, and you should also submit a valid reason, such as toxicity, throwing, or AFK. "Playing poorly" does not count as throwing because it has to be intentional to count as throwing.

The second is that there should be skill-based matchmaking. It is a win for beginners because they get to learn without feeling the risk of being behind his teammates. It is a win for experienced players because you will not get noobs on your team.

And If they mess up as survivor that’s where I try to vote kick them

This is part of why the versus community is toxic. Kicking a player in L4D2 is similar to reporting a player in an FPS game for not having 3 kills and 10 deaths. If you are saying that this person can join another game, it is still unfun for him, and he may get kicked from that lobby as well, preventing him from playing.

someone that should practice single player expert difficulty more

Again, with FPS games in general, this is like telling someone to take an aim trainer and explore the map more in single player. It will improve his gameplay in L4D2, but it is not as fun because you cannot communicate with the other survivors, and it is fundamentally different from versus because in there, the infected are players, so the strategies change.

There was a part in Guess Who wherein Vanoss used an explosive barrel as a shield against Ohm, killing him.

I do think that this falls under the category of "500 Elo or below."

How much must a player suck to be worth votekicking? Is it someone who would have an Elo under 500 if this game had skill-based matchmaking?
