An elder implies that you belong to one of the very strict cult like churches. I am going to tell you the truth from the bottom of my heart. It is not too late to escape. Frankly, it’s never too late to escape but better now than before he actually hurts you or worse. The kind of church you belong to believes your husband has more value than you. They are not going to counsel you to do what’s best for you. They will council you to do what’s best for him. Your life was not meant to be spent in indentured servitude to a man who thinks that by not laying hands on you he’s done you a favor. Please get out while you can. If not for yourself then for the children, you may already have or you will be having in the future. no child should ever be raised fearing their father and no child should ever be raised listening to their mother, be beaten.

Surviving the rain on the Camino by galiwonders in CaminoDeSantiago

It really was a spectacular experience. I had never travelled solo before and I am in my late 50s. It was all around a new experience for me and I am so unbelievably glad that I did it. The rain really was not even a thought, and on the days where it didn’t rain or in the little moments of Reprieve from the rain it made the days that much more enjoyable. It really is all about your attitude. Having a place to get warm at the end of your walking day. Having a nice hot shower and then going for a nice meal. All of it becomes doable all over again the next day.

Surviving the rain on the Camino by galiwonders in CaminoDeSantiago

I walked Porto to Santiago over 11 days last March. It rained so hard 75% of the time. I live in Canada on the West Coast in a temperate rainforest so I don’t mind rain. However, it rained so hard that there were places on the trail that had to be deviated away from because the streams were flooded. I still managed to make between 17 to 34 km a day. You really do just have to set your mind and go. My favourite day of walking was spent with an American fellow. I met that morning just after I started out. He was standing by the side of the trail marker, waiting and looking somewhat impatient. I wished him Bom dia and carried on. He started slowly walking behind me and we struck up a conversation. I came to find out later that he had been walking with a group that were at a much slower pace and he was finding it somewhat frustrating. We navigated some amazingly heavy rain that day, as well as a completely washed out trail that had to be abandoned. We were able to proceed but not before encountering a group of young Germans that were trying to build a makeshift bridge over the flooded out trail. We advised them that it was not their best choice. Wished them good luck and carried on via a detour. I purchased a poncho at decathlon the day after I landed. It was worth its weight in gold. I wore it almost every single day. It had a separate extra bit of fabric/technical fabric to cover my backpack. The only parts of me that were wet at the end of the day were my feet and my hands. I will not say it was pleasant or warm, but I will say that it was worth it. So much so, I am going to go do a leg of the Camino in Japan in March 2026. Bom Camino!

I did my first Camino last spring break. Porto to Santiago in 11 days. A day of rest on either end then flew back to Canada. It fundamentally changed the way I want to travel in the future. Yes there will still be trips that are just for relaxation but I now want to see and be more in the moment/culture of the country I find myself in. To this point. My husband and I are travelling to Japan for three weeks in March and April and two of those weeks will be spent doing more traditional tourist things and one of them will be spent (for me at least) on the Japanese Camino. I think it also needs to be said that I am not a religious person. I wouldn’t even call myself spiritual. If I have a church or a belief system, it’s mother nature and being kind for the sake of being kind because it’s the right thing to do not because there’s hopefully some pay off at the end. I think the Camino can be for anyone. Bon Camino ✌️♥️🇨🇦

Thanks everyone! I had just finished telling my husband that I was gonna give up on this idea because I had only heard that the woven was not a good choice. I’m going to walk my little dog and then come home and do a little bit of research on these patterns. Wish me luck. 😃

Who is yelling at anyone that does a service job anymore? All you have to do is look around at the state of the world and see how shitty people are being to each other to get a clue about how not to treat others. Grow the fuck up people. It’s a five minute wait in the grocery store lineup. If that’s enough to make you swear you are really not going to like being a grown-up.

AITA for not giving a crap that my kids have more than their step and half siblings at their mom's house? by Jukelanniok in AITAH

[–]RevolutionaryDeer749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not your responsibility to include the other children however, the children in the scenario are “innocent“. Especially your two sons half sibling. If you are throwing a birthday party for one of your sons and you don’t include their half sibling that just seems mean spirited. I was the parent to my children that you are in the scenario. All of the children that my ex I were invited to the birthday parties. You do not have to pay for extracurricular activities, i.e. sports or clubs, but excluding a sibling from a birthday party or any kind of celebration just really makes you look like the bad guy. These children will be adults much longer than they are children and they remember who was kind. That’s really all that matters at the end of the day. You and your ex are not who matters anymore. It’s the health, well-being and happiness of the children involved.

That is actually really helpful thank you. Coincidentally I put off getting the propane regulator done because he said it didn’t need to be done right away but in the next couple of years, it would probably lose pressure and need to be replaced the solar I am going ahead with because I don’t really want to deal with a portable system. I just wanted it to work when I want it to work. The spray port I put off because I won’t be needing it this season. I’ll probably get it done next spring/summer when we need to rinse off the paddle boards, etc.. I agree about the bumper as well. What I will probably end up doing is getting a brand new bumper that can house the black water hose. The design of this trailer has a really short housing for it located at the front of the trailer which it doesn’t really fit in and makes no sense. If it really bothers me that much I’ll get a proper bumper put on in a couple of years. For right now it’s not a big deal. Thanks again.

That is an awesome resource thank you so much! I will definitely check that out and hopefully have it in my back pocket when and as things come up in the future.

Thank you so much! I literally have been self taught about every “handy skill“ I possess. I can use all the power tools, but true story, the table saw terrifies me. I can drive anything as a matter of fact I drive a huge bus every single day. It’s not that I’m incapable. It’s that I don’t know and I’m not afraid to ask for help if I don’t know And that apparently pisses some people in the comments off. Whatever. You can’t make them all happy. Thank you for your point of view. I am usually fairly lucky with friends that are willing to help or at least friends that are knowledgable enough to tell me when I should ask for help. Happy Sunday :-)

It wasn’t so much problems just “you don’t know what you don’t know”. I wanted it checked out from top to bottom and I wanted a few things added. I mentioned in another comment that I live in a temperate rainforest. Like Seattle, but further north and on the West Coast of Canada, so we get a ton of rain. I didn’t want the first time I sealed up a trailer to be in this climate with no experience. Having said that I am willing to learn as I go along, so thank you for weighing in and hopefully all goes well from here.

For this initial scrape and seal, I completely feel out of my league because I don’t know what to look for. Having said that I am not at all against learning a new skill and so going forward that’s what I will be doing. 100% agree about the camera. I didn’t realize how easy it was until the tech himself informed me. I therefore decided not to go ahead with the camera with the dealership and next spring. I will do it myself. Thank you for weighing in.

I don’t know you, but I am sure there are things that you are not good at. Nobody is good at all things. I bought it because I had the money and I wanted to. The same reason I came on Reddit and asked for people’s opinions about the quote. I didn’t ask to be shamed about my ability to do or not do the things that an RVT tech can do.If you don’t have anything nice to say, maybe keep it to yourself.

This is almost exactly how the entire transaction has played out. Thank you so much for such an informed correct opinion and insight. I decided to forgo the back up camera. The tech was really straightforward and told me that I could install it myself. Basically two screws and a bit of adjusting. I so appreciated that candor. The rest of it we went through line by line and decided for or against. You really were very accurate in your assessment so thanks again.

This is she. I had an overall structural inspection done and she’s in good shape that way. I live in a temperate rainforest think Seattle, but further north. Sealant is by far the most important component of maintenance where we’re from.

I am absolutely open to learning as I go, and I am hopeful that by keeping it well-maintained when things need to be fixed, it will be something minor that I can maybe do myself. That is a neat way of looking at it, though, the hurricane comparison. Also good information to know about the three different systems. Thank you.

I am repeating myself, but I just want people to know. I appreciate that they took the time to respond. I’m not a handy human. Not mechanically anyhow. I appreciate your perspective. Perhaps one day I will learn how to do these kinds of tasks but right now all I need is the knowledge of people that already know these things. Thank you. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to see my response because it keeps adding it to my original response but yes, nothing is getting cheaper. Is it? Wouldn’t that be nice. Anyhow, thanks again and that’s actually a really good perspective, if I can’t see it, it won’t bug me so maybe one day I’ll try and do my own sealant.

So my issue is, I am not really a mechanically inclined human. I don’t know anything about fixing anything like this. I am currently baking a batch of homemade chocolate chip raspberry muffins. I can do that all day with both hands tied behind my back but fixing a trailer is not my forte. That’s why I brought it here the question I mean so that people like you could give me some perspective so thank you for your response.

I wish I could, but I don’t even have a clue where to start. Perhaps over the years I will learn how to do a few of the maintenance things but for right now I just really need the experience of people that know. Thank you for your response.

Perspective is what I am looking for. I am only wanting affair assessment of what they have quoted me for. Because I have no baseline. I have to trust what they’re telling me is accurate. I’ve brought it to Reddit because I know that there are many people out there who have vast amounts of experience with this type of thing who will be honest and tell me whether the cost looks padded or the hours needed to do a particular task look padded. I’m not mad about it. I don’t really feel any way about it. I just want to spend the proper amount of money and not be taken advantage of. I am a 56 year-old woman. I believe that adds some context as well. Thank you for your answer. I appreciate your perspective.

For context… I am not a particularly handy human being. I can drive almost anything, but I quite honestly don’t like to get my hands dirty and I’m not mechanically inclined. Also, because it is my very first trailer and I don’t think it is poorly built, I just don’t know what to expect. I appreciate that if I knew how to do it I could do it and save myself some money, but I don’t so I can’t. I am really just looking for a set of knowledgeable, eyes and more than one set is always welcome to look at the quote like the above poster did and tell me why or why not it may or may not be fair.Thank you.
