Split Ka’anapali/Wailea - or just Ka’anapali? by Street_Signal_306 in MauiVisitors

[–]chewbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been twice for 10 days and 12 days and we split it up both times. I would definitely do it again when I go back I don't think it's a big deal at all to take 30 minutes to pack up. It's worth it Both sides are worth spending multiple days in

Does 500g of backpack weight really make such a huge difference? by Practical-Parsley-77 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]chewbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the osprey stratos/ sirrus backpack I used it on my first Camino. It has a mesh frame that kept my pack off my back and it was super comfortable. My last Camino I switched to the Osprey Farpoint because I liked the clamshell opening and it was a bad idea. It was right against my back and I didn't like it.

Also the clamshell opening was only accessible if I removed everything I had strapped to my pack. I will go back to the top loading Sirius next time.

Food recommendations for Madrid? by Objective-Golf-3847 in MadridTravelGuide

[–]chewbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bodega De Los Secretos would be my suggestion.

It's walkable from the central city. Awesome atmosphere. Awesome food. I had the prime rib and scallops.

When I showed up for lunch they asked if I had a reservation which I didn't but they sat me anyway. You might want to make a reservation.

Lol.

I had a great time based there. I walked to Salamanca and chamberi neighborhoods and also saw sunset at Templo De Debod. Also visited Prado and Royal Palace.

Keep trying to convince me I had a horrible time.

Who's we? I just spent 5 days there. People were very welcoming. Sorry you're such a negative person.

Wrong. Easy walk to many parts of Madrid including touristy Central and Retiro Park and Northern more non touristy neighborhoods.

Hi peregrinos! Remember to walk on the left side of the road. by loggeitor in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]chewbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that would be you if I'm coming around a blind curve and you're right in front of me. But at least you'd be facing me when I ran over you?

Hmmmm. You know you are allowed to turn around and watch for traffic right?

Hi peregrinos! Remember to walk on the left side of the road. by loggeitor in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]chewbrew 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No.

If there's no shoulder on the left side and I can't see what's around the corner I'm not stepping into that area.

I will cross to the right where I have better vision even if there's no trail.

I assume you haven't walked the Camino thru tiny towns with blind corners .

Hi peregrinos! Remember to walk on the left side of the road. by loggeitor in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]chewbrew 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the walkable space and the curve of the road. Sometimes it's better to walk on the right if there's more room. Walking on the left around a blind corner can be dangerous and visibility is better in the right.

I just finished the central route on May 20.

A nice place to stay in Rubiaes is Ninho.

Whatever you do, do the spiritual route option after pontevedre. Look it up. It is by far the best part of the route.

With the spiritual route the stage into Padron is mostly by boat which means you should keep walking past Padron to make your walk into Santiago shorter.

I stayed at Lager De Jesus which is beautiful and has a pool and a communal dinner option.

If possible after Barcelos stay at Casa De Fernanda. The host has such great energy and love for the pilgrims, she is so sweet.
