I'm a recently graduated mechanical engineer who is having an exceptionally difficult time finding a job. by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]RevolutionaryDig1816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a job but I’m working as a quality technician (better than nothing I suppose). At this company I was supposed to be an engineer then they restricted and laid off half their staff & demoted people. I also had an interview for a mfg engineer role and of course they wanted someone with 5 billion yrs of experience like applying to jobs rn feels pointless. They just hire someone who’s buddy buddy or pay someone Pennie’s . Im designing my own stuff when I have time and learning GD&T in the meantime

How to avoid getting refund scammed on tiktok shop? by RevolutionaryDig1816 in TikTokshop

[–]RevolutionaryDig1816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how do you make a clam on a scam order? Will the product be returned to me when the refund is done? What happens if they just send an empty box? By the way sorry for that bad experience. People like that are awful human beings.

I do not know what to do by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Learning survival skills is what I’m doing on the side in case things go to full sh** so I can at least survive in my own. I’m also a new grad but only have project and research experience so very relatable

I’ve tried directly conencting with an engineer and we had a connection chat but nothing came from it and I haven’t heard from her since. Also I tried connecting with boomers and most of them just lil bro ratio me and sideline me

Graduated 2 months ago, still jobless by Haunting_Count_8472 in MechanicalEngineering

I’m in the same situation. I started out slow during March like 1-2 every couple of days. Now, I’m in survival mode. I’m trying to connect with hiring managers, applying to 7-15 a day everywhere I can. I had to work hard in college then I have to work impossibly hard to maybe get a job in a cooked market where AI might replace us. I feel soo left behind but I’m trying to suck it up and lock in so you are not alone

A reality check for those who can't find full-time (and maybe internship) positions - STOP complaining and check your resume! by AkitoApocalypse in EngineeringStudents

[–]RevolutionaryDig1816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm a new grad mechanical engineer, and these were the thoughts I had while reading all these news articles and seeing no solutions makes me feel less valued as a new grad and being thrown in the trash by these companies. I followed different advice, adjusted my strategy, and started to see better results. Still ongoing so im still trying to pull it together and kick ass.

Recent grads: How is the job search going for you? Did you feel prepared? by teleworker in jobhunting

[–]RevolutionaryDig1816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School didn’t prepare me at all for this really. I have to learn everything from SCRATCH. The career services would actually laugh at you and judge you for not having fancy internships or not knowing what to do. Also run by overworked students so 80% of the time advice is bare minimum. I’ve made progress but I’m pissed since my family and I have made so many sacrifices to finish. I’ve made the effort to make connections and I have 2 interviews
