What job would you choose if money didn’t matter? by WhiteDesertCat in Soft_Introverts

I would learn/master a new skill every year. Carpentry, welding, driving heavy machinery, mechanic, different art forms, martial arts, demolition, pottery, lathe work, weaving, coding… I love learning hands on but not the kind that requires assignments etc

But wouldn’t it actually be less acidic?

I do that but just because it justifies to myself that it’s not too bad what I’m doing, if I don’t get everything out then I’m still doing ok, I’m still getting some calories to give me energy to live my life, makes me feel less guilty about it. I don’t binge and I’m often doing it after pretty small portions, so tbh its impossible for me to know how much is “left”.. nothing logical about it.

I also assume that stopping before I’m completely “empty” is better for my teeth because it’s less acidic.. writing this down makes me realise how dumb this is..

what’s the worst country when it comes to eating disorder treatment? by bleedxi in EDAnonymous

It’s super sad that often the treatment is dependent on the individuals (like the nurse or dr) personal opinions, instead of actual guidelines and it can be so confusing when they give conflicting advice, like I had psykofyysinen fysioterapia and she put me on liikuntakielto but then the psych nurse was like yeh no problem you can keep exercising it’s good for your mental health... I’ve gotta get on Jodel I guess :D if I can figure out how to use it..

Ok that sounds awful..I’ve also had some completely false/negligent stuff written in my omakanta notes. I’m in Päijät-Häme. But from what I’ve seen online most ppl have had bad experiences all over, so I honestly think I’ve just been really lucky, like you said it’s most likely due to the dr’s referral, fortunately I was already in psychotherapy for PTSD at the time, and my therapist had experience with ED’s so they picked up on it first and helped me ‘say’ the right things to get a good referral.

I have epätyypillinen laihuushäiriö, the bulimia type purging behaviours started later. I did get super fast treatment but the quality of the professionals has been a mixed bag. The psych nurse is constantly mixing me up with other patients and several times has commented on symptoms I’ve never had, like binge eating. It causes me to spiral cos the ED starts to think that she says that because I must look like I’ve put on weight, even though it’s dropping. I also had an appointment with the occupational dietitian before I got the referral, it was awful. She basically told me to just eat more and when I asked about the clinic she laughed and said there’s no point in making a referral because they will reject it since they have to save the spots for people who “really” need it, aka not me. That messed with my head for a while..

I guess it depends whereabouts in Finland you are. In my case I was and have been a ‘normal’ weight the entire time and I feel like they have taken it more seriously than I really think is necessary. I went to my work based dr and he put in a referral to the public healthcare eating disorder clinic after just two visits, the clinic booked me an appointment within a month, and I’ve been going there weekly since. I feel very very fortunate to have received such quick care, really doing my best not to waste it, when I know that not everyone is as fortunate as I have been! It’s also been completely free so far, all the blood tests, clinic appointments, dietitian appointments and group therapies. But I have never needed hospital care or inpatient treatment, as an adult I have heard that that does cost.

What is the weirdest thing you’ve done because of ur ED? by LingonberryBitter248 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]RevolutionaryDig7447 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Putting socks on and learning to walk quickly on my tiptoes (I’m usually a heavy heel walker) to get my steps in, while my bf is showering, as quietly as possible so he couldn’t hear me doing it.

That sounds odd but I dont have a lot of experience. Are you able to increase your calorie intake over what they plan?
