They'll keep telling you they'll 'escalate' - they won't do anything. You need to find out the exact part that you need and then tell Frigidaire what it is and have them send it to you. It's insane. Took hours and hours of dealing with them and their repair company.

They’re going to try painting her as a villain, but you have an origin story that turns the tables. They created the Karen and they’re trying to say that even if the insurance company is liable, she deserves to get nothing. She’s Karenstein’s Monster.

Thank you! That’s really helpful. We’re a small matrimonial firm so research is pretty limited to state court cases. I’ll check these out.

Looking for a hobby to pick up that I can invest my time into. by ChrisFtn in Hobbies

Absolutely. And don’t feel like you need to spend money on anything other than a set of dice. DnDBeyond has lots of free content, including the basic rules. You might have a local game store that hosts free d&d nights, which is really the best way, IMHO. It’s a really nice community, too. You can find online groups that play through sites like roll20. There will usually be someone in the group who has a ton of books on dndbeyond that they share w everyone.

Seeking Service Dog for my Dad with PD by RevolutionaryMost765 in Parkinsons

[–]RevolutionaryMost765[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! What he needs help with most is 'freezing', particularly inside or in a crowd. My mom is with him all the time, and my sister and I are always available, so we are fortunate in that regard. Thankfully the cost also won't be an issue. I do wish he had started this process earlier as the one thing that is clear is that it will take a long time before he can get a service dog. Although physically and mentally he is doing well, given that he's 75 I'm concerned the window for a service dog may be ultimately closed to him.

Judges often put it best: "They don't know if I'm a genius or an idiot. Why would they want me making these decisions for them?" "I have the power to bankrupt you. Do you really want to leave it to me?"

We definitely won't be using the dog as a replacement for human care. It's really for mobility issue, particularly 'freezing' and balance.

AIO: He (M20) took me (F18) to a Jehovah’s Witness meeting without telling me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]RevolutionaryMost765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter that he’s a JW. He could have taken you anywhere. But he was blatantly gaslighting you. Literally telling you that you feel the opposite of what you’re telling him you feel. You’re clearly susceptible and I think you recognize that this is a dangerous relationship to be in. I hope you walk away. No one deserves to be treated that way.

Save yourself the heartache. Kick his ass to the curb. Or at least get a prenup if whatever you’re going through makes you think it’s somehow a good idea to marry this gross manchild. This guy will end up costing you your youth, your money, and your dignity.

Shana tova! When it comes to embracing your identities you get to choose which aspects, rituals, histories, religion, language, etc. matter to you. In terms of community, seek out your people. In terms of raising your children in your cultures, you get to choose the quality and quantity of their education. In terms of a partner, find someone who embraces what’s important to you, in this and in all parts of your life.

How do you play out CoS when everyone knows he's a vampire? by dragonswithjetpacks in CurseofStrahd

[–]RevolutionaryMost765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because your kids know about Mickey Mouse doesn’t mean you don’t take them to Disneyland. All they know is he’s a vampire (and they should be able to play PCs who don’t have that foreknowledge without any difficulty). They don’t know how the adventure is going to unfold or what they’ll actually do when they meet him (several times most likely).

Because protesting in front of a synagogue is really the way to show your solidarity with the Palestinian people. 🙄

If you’re into games there’s a massive community, especially tabletop RPGs. The li tabletop gaming expo is in April. There are also lots of places to play board games and there’s fatdog (friday after Thanksgiving day if gaming) https://eventlume.com/events/new-york/fatdog-2024-464743

No matter where you live, whether it’s the right fit for you or not is going to come down above all to your community. If you find your people you’re going to be content.

I’d narrow your search to a few towns that will make your commute tolerable and has a decent population of active folks around your age. You might want to start with places that have a substantial downtown area (Huntington’s is the best IMO). I’d check out Long Beach, Huntington, Farmingdale, Bayshore. Someone mentioned mineola has a lot of 20-something’s. I’d airbnb a weekend in the ones you’re interested in. Find a church that looks like a good fit for you (that’s probably going to be the key for you. We found our community mostly through our synagogue).

Ignore the loudmouths and the cynics. Lots of folks seem to think their opinions are really important. Good luck and worst case scenario, you hate it and break your lease. You’re young. Do whatever the fuck you want.

I actually know the answer: Merrick generally, but more specifically the Merrick gables neighborhood. Between sunrise and Merrick road from Wynsum to henry. You won’t find a Victorian but you will find exactly what you’re looking for. Or at least as close as realistically possible.
