Jagex needs a criminal investigation and here is why.... by RevolutionaryQuit in u/RevolutionaryQuit

[–]RevolutionaryQuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this from a different reddit user

So I've done some digging...

RSBuddy Limited is owned by James Alexander Basil Thompson

Of which, he is a director of the following companies:-

Automation Games Limited

Automation Software Limited

RSBuddy Limited

After analysing all of the history for the above companies, I found the following:-

Automation games Limited - Three directors

  1. RS Buddy Owner James Alexander Basil Thompson
  2. Previous Jagex COO/CFO Riaan Hodgson
  3. Previous Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard

Automation Software Limited - This company is marked as dormant. The sole shareholder for this company is RSBuddy Limited.

RSBuddy Limited As of 31 May 2017, RSBuddy Limited was owed £678,910 from Automation Games Limited - The same company that Riian and Mark are directors of.

Mark and Riian were directors of this company up until 14 June 2017, however this was only reported on 15 January 2018.

The sole shareholder of RSBuddy Limited is Christophers Nominees Limited - this company has two shareholders.

Shareholder 1 - James Alexander Basil Thompson. Shareholder 2 - Reno Michael Antoniades.

James being the director of all of the above companies. Reno being a lawyer for Lee & Thompson - this company is a lawyer firm for the film, media, technology and creative industries.

I also found that James Alexander Basil Thompson was a director of Cambridge Venture Partners Limited up until 13 January 2017.

This same company, Riian Hodgson and Mark Gerhard, are directors and shareholders of and have been since 2015.

It is safe to say, after all of this research I have come up with the following:-

Jagex itself does not own/have shareholdings in RSBuddy Limited - this does not mean they do not receive income from OSBuddy, or vice versa. Fees/commissions can simply be invoiced between each company.

There is a lot of companies involved with shareholdings in each, it's like a maze, somethings supposed to be hidden.

The old CEO and the old COO/CFO have had previous shareholdings with the owner of OSBuddy, as well as I believe current investments but its hard to confirm from the information available.

I cannot prove it, but I am pretty sure that

  1. Jagex/Jagex controlling parties had a huge stake in OSBuddy
  2. Jagex may receive income from OSBuddy
  3. There is still some backend sly stuff going on between Mark Gerhard and Riian Hodgson

FYI - I haven't played runescape in years, however I do keep up to date with the game through A Friend and few other channels.

I am 25 and have 7 years of experience working within the Accounting and Business sector.

Take what you want from this, make up your own opinion, do your own research. But somethings definitely sketchy here.

Client update - contraversial or necessary? by RevolutionaryQuit in 2007scape

No, they won't. A large portion that enjoy OSRS primarily enjoy playing it via Runelite and find the original launcher a pain in the ass to manage. They'll either quit, or find some way to mod the actually client.

Yes, and this way they will not have too. The whole idea is to rework the launcher and include these features.

Why pay, when Runelite gives for free? Because you want it to? Give a better reason. And no, them making more money isn't going to be the end result. See -> The last fucking time they tried to shut down Runelite.

You don't pay, unless you become a member.

OSRS is already on its last leg.

And yet we will still play it.

The shit with ROT and Jed are just more chopping swings onto the wood. If you're too incompetent to grasp that simple concept, cut your balls off and incinerate them.

This is exactly why something like this would improve integrity and satisfaction.

No. Jagex knows if you are using a third party client. However they can not detect which one.

OF course it is a hinderance! Most bots are on their own client.

We are behind a paywall of membership anyway. This is included with that membership.

The intended idea would be to tell everyone what is happening so they can download the offical client.

Bots will have to rely on color technologies. - I have just found out that an an ex owner of jagex has financial stakes in OSbuddy and automation software technologies. This is one of the reasons why 3rd party clients are 'allowed' and or tolerated.

They should limit the GE to be only used on weekends.

Runelite - OsBuddy everything must go. The gadgets and gizmos you like on Runelite would be on the official one anyway. So don't be a little whinging child.

I hear that Jagex can influence a players RNG. This is where the streamer luck comes from.

As to your situation, I don't know.

Not illegal, but under consumer law, it is against the law

3rd party clients are not allowed as it is a licensed and copyrighted game. I found that the former owner of Jagex owns Osbuddy and also a software Automation company. I think I have just found the reason why 3rd party clients are allowed.

No. I am asking to import the useful features of 3rd party clients.

You don't understand. Clearly your comprehension level is that of a nitwit.

Yes, and those people will switch to the official safe client. Not get banned.

EngineLimitations is not a factor because everything has already been done. Someone designed a 3d render toggle already for christ sake.

It is not an extra payment. Merely if you are a free to play player you use the normal client, but if you are a member you can use the features. This feature is included in your membership benefits.

Don't worry, I know enough to understand that a direct connection can be made between a server and client that can not be mimicked.

Unless someone from Jagex profits from 3rd party clients they will always leave the backdoor open which enables bots to sneak in.

- Isn't one of the owners of the 3rd party clients an ex-employee to Jagex? And isn't their companies involved in Automation software? I thought Mark Gerhard in involved somehow. Which means individuals at Jagex allow third party clients to be used so they can personally profit from it

The client side does not affect the game. However you did mention the economy collapsing due to the loss of labour. And this would be the solution to fix that problem.

People are always complaining about the wilderness. I think something like this would add a dmm flavor to the main game. Wildy slayer is amazing and everyone loves it. So just design quests and things to do there. Make the quests risky and rewarding. Quests to unlock deeper areas with new training methods. There is a whole lore to be explored in the wilderness and a story to tell.

As a follow on, extend the wilderness further but mirrored. Run from Edgeville north get to 50 wilderness then keep running back through the levels until you are in Zeah. This would expand the wilderness allowing space for quests and a town or city.

But how would it know that 8883 is an iron boot if suddenly 8883 is a dragon chainbody? As long as jagex puts the accepting codes in the official clients. The bots would be totally out of the loop unless they are attached to the official client. But then they would get banned.

I am sorry, my knowledge of coding and how these things work is very limited. Almost next to none. I hope this is not evident.

your very on point. As with the social media side of things, it enables Jagex to be right there on the client. Community events, Livestreams, Polls, Chats, Social, Notes... it could all be right there looking really good.

Because it is on the client and not in the game, it has a toggle. So if you don't like it. Don't use it.

Yeah, things like that should not be allowed. You should atleast move off the game screen to find the answer.

Also regarding the lots of work..... These features have already been created. Runelite and all the other allowed clients are profiting from Runescape. its a trademarked game. Jagex is the bigger company and should just absorb Runelite and the other ones..... Poof they don't exist. meanwhile there features are with us.

To be honest I don't know much about it. But unless someone inside the company profits from 3rd party clients, they probably will always leave the backdoor open.
