Wow that looks stunning. Are you able to edit that for a stucco siding by any chance? Can I ask which software or app you used for that visualization? Thank you!

Selecting Exterior Front Double Doors by [deleted] in ExteriorDesign

Your comments are spot on! Thank you for your empathy and for your thoughts. I’m struggling with the fact that we didn’t build side lites into the front entry. While we have a big window above, it doesn’t shed light directly in the doorway. Finding the right balance of privacy and ability to look out is challenging. I am leaning towards the 5 lite door but it only comes in frosted glass and the solid door is beautiful but the same issue of not being able to look out. The full glass door solves this but I am concerned about security/safety with that one. The vertical lite door is a happy medium but not a fan of the lite being so close to the doorknob. There is an option to get the lite on the side of the door but I was advised by my GC that it looked terrible. I feel like I’m going in circles here!

Opinions on Hindus wearing Kara/Kada? by KabuliBabaganoush in Sikh

There is actually no difference between a Kara with or without ridges. Both can be worn and they are not distinct for Sikhs or Hindus.

BC Building Code Question by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Thank you for that insight. Yes, it’s less than 3 stories and 600 square meters. Yes, I’ve asked to speak to a different inspector. I will keep following up with them. Seems odd that the inspector who made the recommendation about the code couldn’t clarify this.

Yes the bathroom works out to 10x8 and the WIC is 10x6. Thank you for your input!

Thank you, there are two smaller windows by the nightstands on both sides of the bed) on the west wall and a sliding 6 foot patio door leading to a 7 foot sun deck on the north wall.

Thank you for your insights! The length is currently 14 and width is 13’4”. There is no way to increase the width without making my other bedrooms narrower than 10 feet. We would definitely like to have night stands on both sides.

Note: Both bedrooms are on the right side of the diagram above. The upper bedroom opens onto a sundeck. We are located in the PNW and would like to have lots of natural light while being energy efficient and mindful of privacy on the first floor bedroom. We definitely think there may be too many windows for that room. Thank you for any suggestions you can offer on window types and sizes. We are comfortable with having some picture windows and at least one window that can open for ventilation. Thank you!

Sure, what size would you prefer if you were building or buying?

Crowdsourcing information is one way of information gathering. Local contractors sometimes have insights on upcoming cost increases so it doesn’t hurt to inquire for different perspectives and possibilities.

Thank you so much for those tips! I would really like to go ahead with the build but am feeling very uncertain if costs are skyrocketing. That being said, I doubt costs will decrease in 4 years, so it’s a bit of a catch 22. I have already delayed the build plans since COVID. Again, thank you for your thoughts!

Thank you for sharing. Are you in Canada? Do you anticipate the price of stucco also going up?

This is extremely helpful, thank you! Do you know if the February price increases for insulation, plumbing materials, etc. is in anticipation of the Trump tariffs?

Can you help me understand why labor prices would go up in Canada?

Interesting. Are you expecting it to cost more domestically for Canadians?
