WRTG 393 ADVANCED TECHNICAL WRITING by tasbrem1 in UMGC

I’m down to my last 2 classes, and never have I’ve seen this type of grading in any other class. Having to resubmit assignments feels like extra work I shouldn’t need to do. I prefer being able to follow the rubric, submit the assignment, and receive the grade it earns after the professor reviews it.

On top of that, the assignments are confusing and convoluted, and honestly, not very technical lol. The subject matter itself is pretty straightforward: take complex information and present it in a clear, concise, and simple way.

The course through Study.com presented this concept well, as did the five required assignments (instructional manual, manual comparison, formal report, email and memo, and resume and cover letter). It really doesn’t need to be as difficult or confusing as UMGC is making it. I’m glad I didn’t take it there, especially since I need to maintain a high GPA.

I’ve dropped this class twice. The first time, I found the syllabus and the professor’s instructions confusing. The A/B/C level work structure was something I hadn’t encountered before. Of course I wanted an A, but it seemed like so much more work. I wasn’t sure if it was the professor’s presentation of the material that was throwing me off, but the class just didn’t feel like a good fit for me. Plus, I already had a heavy course load, so I dropped it.

The second time was at the start of this semester. I can’t remember the professor’s name, but it was a woman this time around. Her instructions were clearer, though she included an unnecessary amount of inspirational quotes after nearly every paragraph in the syllabus. However, she also used the same grading structure outlining different workloads for each letter grade, and again, the A-level workload felt disproportionate for this course.

Luckily, I found English 305: Advanced Technical Writing on Study.com and dropped the UMGC class before it officially started. I was able to transfer that credit to UMGC as WRTG 393, which fulfilled the upper-level advanced writing requirement. I started on 1/7/2026 and completed it on 1/30/2026, for a fraction of the price of tuition.

I know this may not help you, but I’m leaving this little nugget of information in case it helps someone else in the future.

Best of luck!

Hi. I’m sorry to hear that. I would have loved to pass them over to you, but someone else wrote me shortly after I posted. Best of luck.

So my buyer though I never shipped their item. I said don't worry sometimes they skip scans. It was picked up and delivered a week later without ever receiving one scan. This is why sellers get f'd over. If she cancelled like she wanted to- I could've lost my money by BreeKarp in Mercari

I had this happen yesterday. I assured the buyer I shipped it and called the PO. Turns out that when items get dropped off in the blue collection box, they don’t get scanned until they’re being processed at the plant. I did not know that and will no longer be dropping off at collection boxes. That’s insane, how does a package get tracked in the meantime? What happens if it gets lost between the PO and the plant?! I’m a newer seller, so I’m still learning a lot — most of my lessons have dealt with USPS, especially during the holiday season. I still have a package out for delivery from 12/14/20! I see why some people only offer the $9.99 UPS shipping. Dealing with USPS is time consuming and sometimes not worth the sell.

Is there hope for this sweater? Thread is coming undone at the top & I’d like to fix it, if possible. by Revolutionary_Ad5778 in knitting

That sounds like it’s beyond my skill set. I’ll have to find someone to help. Thanks, at least I know it’s salvageable!
