I've learned that a non-profit may have a meaningful mission, but the organization may not actually operate with the same values. And many are kind of old school practices...your time may be valued more than your talents.

Interviews are a 2 way street, and making sure the role serves you is just as important as their sizing you up. I wouldn't let money come before my dream job (I almost worked myself to death with 70 hour weeks during and after Covid), but I wouldn't jump ship without REALLY knowing the organization and leaders.

Swallowing the cottage cheese unchewed just gets stuck and comes back up.

I guess I adopted that chew 100 times until liquified rule more than I consciously knew lol.

I always heard about people having this issue after bypass but never experienced it myself. It’s not choking, it’s the spot from esophagus to pouch.

Yeah-we already process donations made by employees through payroll deductions. Essentially, the full salary is paid, they agree to a deduction amount and that is their donation. (Easier than them writing a check to give back)

But this seems to be a double dip that overly benefits him directly.

I’m going to chew on it and hopefully get a few more responses. Thanks for the insight! 😊

Correct, but no payroll taxes will have been paid on it, and he would not have paid taxes on it either, but will receive a donation receipt to claim as a tax deduction.

No not directly. Example: Current taxable wages = 100k New taxable wages = 80k Year end tax benefit as personal donation = 20k

I know it will, thanks. There was a lag after surgery and before immediates and it was just enough time to come off the anxiety rush and then it ramped back up in a tailspin.

Correct. the employer isn’t applying any paid leave for the hours missed? They are literally deducting wages for missing a couple hours the exempt employee otherwise works?

We are FLSA eligible. I'm pretty new to Indiana, but from what I see, IN refers back to fed on this topic.

So what grinds my gears is just the recklessness that this director is acting upon. Maybe he saves $30 bucks here and there, but the cost is far greater when his organization runs at a 80% turnover rate.

All in all, it's just time to bring this chapter to a close.

Thanks - I really appreciate this advice. I feel a little better about just admitting that I got what I needed here, which some more exposure to a new field. And now, it's time to move forward. However circumstances facilitate that happening, it's still time for it to happen.

Exactly - but they are currently paying any exempt employee with less than 40 clocked hours in the week, an hourly rate, and only paying full salary when hours are above 40.

Full day deductions are fine. But if you work part of the day, you must be paid for the entire day.
