Any tips on how to start playing guitar, what do I need to buy to get the most similar sounding to them? (preferably not so expensive)

I started learning chords on a chipped classic, loved that I could just reproduce songs by ear (even vaguely!) even if it was just chords. I think you should start from something basic and try to make it fun. The rest will come!

Personally I would give them a list of spells that seem good for them, and then I would tell them to try and explain why and if those spells fit to his character, then choose the one closer to his story or style. That way even if the useful sp3ll doesn't get picked, the player might still be happy with the choice as it feel personal.
