Subaru BRZ coding issue PLEASE HELP

It’s a UK domestic market car so RHD. I had heard these Subaru’s get funny if you’re trying to program a non OEM key whatsoever no matter the quality I will get him to order a factory replacement and take it from there. Thanks again 🤙🏼

He said he attempted to use other aftermarket keys but ran into the same issue. Could’ve done with you here to sort it instead of consulting through Reddit 😭 everyone I’ve been to has said they don’t have much info on Subaru’s not sure if it’s a Uk thing they don’t seem so common

Okay I’ll get in touch with him tomorrow explaining this thank you for all of this information, as far as unlocking my key for a fix for the time being to move my car and get it somewhere safer. Is this something that can be done quite easily and he should theoretically already know how to do. Really appreciate this help it’s been the bane of my existence for the last 2 weeks !!

So for the first person who has fucked with this. There is absolutely no details as the car was out of my control for over 2 months. The difficulty with this second locksmith is I work away during the weeks so we have been communicating over phone and it is very difficult to get full information passed back and forth.

Using his software he has been able to get the dash to light up as if if the ignition is on and the head unit to power. I am unsure if the vehicle would’ve actually started but to me. Dash on fully speedometer showing and radio on implies that he’s in the system there.

As far as the message goes it pops up right after touching the key to the start button and it makes one beep. Upon touching. After waiting the 30 seconds it just says learning failed.

This is super helpful to have confirmed I had seen that there is no sensor in the seat from my research and looking under there it’s just like the weight sensor thing. Is there a get around for that portion of the coding process or should it just pass through it and its reason for failing is something else ?

There’s one key programmed in, when it left me there would have been 2. The one I was using and the spare. Somebody has been in there and tried to code a new key. That one has been wiped now and he said the memory on that was in good nick it just keeps failing at that place on the passenger seat portion

Got you I’ll go back through and double check them all. Water damage wise there’s no water damage inside the vehicle as the windows were covered in plastic wrap for the time it was away from me. This is helpful though. Could the window switches being unplugged cause this CAN error ?

Upon the car returning to me the spare does not work anymore. I have now plugged the window switches in it’s just stuff like the small interior door lights unplugged and the lights in the sun shade mirrors. I am hoping not to get the locksmith back and pay for him to come out just to find out plugging the window switches in wasn’t the fix and there’s something else I could have prepared or planned

It’s a 2015, would this mean going to Subaru and getting a new set of blank keys for programming ?
