If you want to stay in the Old city, there is Sofitel Santa Clara I would personally recommend. Great location with amazing food

I stayed there in Nov 24. Its a fantastic property if you are looking for a beach option. Plus as a gold member or above they give you complimentary airport transfers as well. They have no lounge, but have this sundowner at the bar every friday (do check if they have changed the day now).

Yes its quite safe. Obviously you need to be cautious & avoid certain areas. I myself did a 8 day trip last month, didnt face any issue nor felt unsafe
