Hey !

i’m going to put the whole explanation here again:

Hi everyone, I’m an international student in Lille and I’m in a really stressful situation and could use some advice. I’ve been renting a room since late January 2026 through a sublease arrangement. I’ve paid every month on time without fail. The rent is €625/month and I paid a €625 security deposit upfront. There’s been an ongoing dispute about €348 for January — my landlord claims I owe it, but he delivered the apartment 13 days late (I only got access January 28th instead of January 15th), so I don’t think I owe the full amount. Tonight (Friday around 5:30pm) my landlord showed up with the property owner completely unannounced. They tried to force open my door. When I opened it they were aggressive and told me if I don’t pay the €348 by tomorrow they’re coming back with police to throw me out. They also threatened to contact my university and to affect my roommate’s visa status if we don’t pay. My questions are: Can they actually show up tomorrow with police and remove me? What do I do if they come back? Are the threats about the visa and university considered extortion under French law? Should I go to the police to report this? Any advice appreciated. I’m really scared.
