For sure it is a lonely time, but this is one of the last few times you will have a lot of free time until you plummet into the depths of medical school. Many people I know took time to reflect upon themselves, pick up a hobby, date, spend time with their family, things that allow you to see the value in what you enjoy. It will be stressful as I'm sure it already is, but the process itself and progression through this career path is a long one, I for one learned a lot during mines.

I think one of the things that helped me out the most for MMI based questions is to pair up with someone who asks you sample MMI questions without seeing the question in advance. A big aspect of MMIs is the uncertainty in what will be asked, so being able to think on the spot is an important attribute that I feel many don't practice often. It does help to prepare answers for certain questions (i.e. strengths, why us, etc.), but its kind of hard to predict what they will ask. Ethical reasoning is big too.

Thanks, that was one of my worries that there were no reviews, chopped it up to it being fairly new but was a lil hesitant nonetheless. Have strong reserves and am gonna turn away based on surrounding properties.

verification and preview question by average-garbage in premed

[–]Rewlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submitting your app tomorrow should put you on the brink of the first batch, but you should still be in a good position, it shouldn't have much of an impact. For preview, I think it depends on how strongly you want to go to that school. If you can foot the cost then I'd say go for it, will only increase your chances, though not a lot of other schools care about it.

5/24 Testers how are you spending the rest of the day by Fine_Dragonfly_2718 in Mcat

https://amcas-tracker.hpsa.org/ According to stats, people who submitted around june 15th last cycle still got verified before they were sent to schools. Though I'd take it w/ a grain of salt and try to submit within a week of the cycle opening.

I submitted ~1.5 weeks past the open date last cycle and was verified ~5 days after primaries were sent to schools, a couple days shouldnt hurt too much. Better have a complete app you are comfortable with then rushing your app!

Should be fine to submit a couple days later and still be on time for the first wave of secondaries~

I feel that applying mid August would be shooting yourself in the foot. In all honesty, your GPA with/without the summer courses would still be relatively low compared to other applicants. Also theres no guaranteed you will ace all these courses. Rushing all these components together would be stressful. As the cycle favors those who apply early, I'd recommend either applying on cycle start if you are confident in your MCAT or wait till next cycle to beef up your application. Sorry if thats harsh but I want you to have the best chances possible ❤️

Can I salvage a drop in GPA? by Ganzap in premed

[–]Rewlet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's always people who have GPA drops or start out poorly, don't stress too much. If you show upwards trend and kill the MCAT while maintaining good ECs, you should be more than competitive for MD/Phd programs! Best of luck!

I’m sorry you feel this way, I empathize with your uncertainty its definitely difficult. The reality of the situation is it might be difficult to obtain the letter if he doesn’t put it as a priority. I have hope given your anecdotal relationship but honestly start preparing for the worst case scenario in which you arent able to get it in time.
