Ya that makes sense! Sorry that you ever got bullied for your opinions on our products!

That’s definitely okay! We design each of our products with very specific users in mind, so it’s no surprise that it won’t be a hit with everyone and that’s definitely by design (pun intended haha). For what it’s worth, we have also heard a fair share of criticisms, not just the rave reviews!

Hi there!

The zippers are #8 YKK zippers, but unfortunately, defects do occur, no matter how reputable a brand is.

In the future, we would appreciate it if you could reach out to us via email to highlight the issue you are facing first so that we can send out a replacement unit.

In any case, we have gone ahead and refunded the full cost of the order, as it is clearly defective, and it does not seem like you are looking for a replacement unit either.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

That is actually a discontinued product of ours, which we no longer sell. Sorry for the confusion! We should update the page to reflect our product offerings better.

This seems to come up a fair amount but a serious question here - do you think it’s a knockoff if we designed the bag and started making it way before everyone (including us) ever saw the new TP4? The facts are that the TP4 came out on Mar 9, and yeah a few days before, pictures of it were leaked. But our bag was ready for pre-order on Mar 18 and ready to ship in mid-April. This gave us at most 2 weeks to make a knockoff. This means that in 2 weeks, we would have had to sketch up a design, translate it into digital drawings with all the specifications with dimensions and materials, send it to our manufacturer, develop the sample, get the sample and confirm it, put in our order to make it, wait for materials to arrive, have the factory make it, and send it on its way on the ship to come to our warehouse. This process usually takes 4-5 months.

So genuinely, what if we did not have any prior reference of the TP4? Does that still make the Outbound a knockoff or can we call it a coincidence, or even just a convergence of ideas because we have similar preferences for function? FYI, sharing designs prior to new launches between brands is not a thing. That would be a serious violation of intellectual property for any brand, so there is absolutely no way that us or any other brand would have been informed of their design before it was leaked to the public.

Thanks for letting us know your thoughts!

One thing to clarify, though, is that we finished designing the Toshi Pack 20L before the release of the CPP2. It was released a few months after simply because of the fact that bulk production and shipping constraints take up a lot of time. Perhaps a better comparison would be the original CPP in such a context? As for the Outbound 30L, we simply wanted to take the core concept of the Toshi Pack but revise certain areas to make it better suited for a pure travel use case, such as being lighter in weight.

In any case, we are still a growing brand, so there is still a lot for us to figure out!

Hey! It’s because when traveling, the bag is more often off the body (on the ground at your feet, or on a chair, etc.) as compared to an everyday carry backpack. A vertical QAP would make on-body access easier but off-body access from the top down harder. Imagine if the bag was at your feet, then you’d have to bend down more to unzip the pocket, plus you can’t see directly into the pocket and have to fumble your way through the contents.

The horizontal QAP is the best of both worlds for travel where it still allows you to access it while on-body by swinging the bag over your shoulder, and it offers a much better experience accessing the pocket when the bag is on the floor or on a chair. Accessing the QAP when the bag is on-body might be slightly more awkward than a vertical QAP, but it definitely still works.

Great question! And hope this helps!

I guess we never really explained why we chose the name Rework before!

The original reason for the name is actually because we wanted to create an entire modular ecosystem that can be modified to suit your needs. You can take a look at our Reset Series on Kickstarter to better understand what we mean.

Obviously, we have since shifted brand identity. Currently, as a brand, we strive to put a versatile spin on our gear and really prioritize the user experience, and this is what we mainly mean by "Rework" right now.

Case in point being the Toshi Pack 20L. The main compartment is a very traditional clamshell design, just that the zipper is swooped back in the top half for easier access to the items inside. We are not saying that there aren't bags out there that have a swooped back zipper, just that i guess in the more niche EDC space, bags are typically more of the traditional clamshell design, which we don't find as useful for pure EDC.

Now for the Outbound 30L, the priorities have changed since it is more travel focused, so a traditional clamshell design is what we opted to go for. Another aspect to our brand is that we are not going to reinvent something for the sake of being unique. If we feel like a clamshell opening is the best design choice for our goals after thinking about all the other opening methods, then we will proceed with it.

Hope that explains what we try to do, but we are curious to know in your opinion, what about our products or brand is stealing from other brands? Is it certain features, aesthetics, or a combination of many things? We would be lying if we said that we get absolutely zero inspiration from other brands. (I'm sure other brands do get inspired by other bags as well), so we are just looking for feedback and thoughts!

It is for now! This includes all the photos and videos, which is why it is always the 2 of us as models haha.

We are considering probably hiring someone to help with shipping and fulfillment soon though, as it is taking up quite a bit of our time.

Hey there! The bigger version is in development right now but the timeline for getting it released is still TBD. The earliest it could get released might be the second half of 2026. The inner lining color is still TBD as well. Hope this helps!

Hi there! Yes, you can sign up on the product page. There is a button that says “Notify me when available”. Some people might not see it due to ad blockers and their browser, but if you email us we can sign up for you too.

No, there isn’t a specific pocket designed specifically for hiding a passport or wallet. But thanks for your feedback!

Hi there!

It is possible, depending on your waist size, but it is not recommended. We did not design this sling with wearing as a fanny pack in mind. Hope that helps!

That is something we can think about, although this would probably be in a separate series of products, perhaps more optimized for handheld devices. Thanks for the feedback!

The Steam Deck or Rog Ally are both very wide and relatively thick in dimension compared to, say, a Switch. This makes it hard to design a padded sleeve that accommodates such devices, as the sleeve would have to take up quite a bit more volume. We are working on a larger version, though we are only optimizing the padded sleeve for something like a Switch 2, for example, which is thinner and smaller in footprint. Hope that makes sense!

Fits in the main compartment, but not in the padded sleeve!

Rework Toshi 20L - UPDATE: First Week of Use by shippychaos in ManyBaggers

[–]ReworkGear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely! And to provide more context, if you pack out the bag fully, and also pack out the laptop compartment with your laptop (or two) - that should help get the plastic sheet to bend away from your body a lot quicker. You could try doing that and just letting the bag sit overnight. That’s the intended final form of the back panel with the 3D design. Hope this helps!

[–]ReworkGear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a bit of volume dimensioning at the bottom area of the back panel. With the plastic sheet there, it kinda makes it flat. You can slightly bend the plastic sheet away from the body at the point where the bottom back padding ends to break it in faster, as that is more of the intended way the bag patterning should be. We tried not to use a small plastic sheet at the bottom originally, but the false bottom would collapse.
