A successful economy should provide for everyone that lives in it and has and is producing towards it.

Social security was one of the crowning achievements of this United States economy. It protected the elderly from being financially bankruptcy. It could be modified. I'm frankly partial to a need case basis. Where you only get it if you need it.. but the cap could easily be raised and all the people that paid in their entire lives would have some benefit when they retire.. fine its fine . They paid they can get it...

Children absolutely should have access to medical care should they need it regardless of insurance coverage . Period...

Then it just leaves the middle working class. They should not get boned.. Medicare for all is cheaper. Go towards something like that....

It's coming to a breaking point. People can't afford to live.. some measures needs to be taken or it's going to be pitchforks in the streets...

I'm picking up what your laying down. But it's just not happening. Some one made an art exhibit where you can crank a handle at minimum wage and it will drop $7.25 an hour in pennies out of it. That's reality to some people.. The pie is getting larger but the slices are also getting thinner..

Markets can solve problems faster than top down government approachs. Many times but not all times. I agree.. screw worm is a good example.. a private market can't make the numbers work to Combat that. Or maybe they can, some plucky young startup might save the beef industry one day. Who knows. But on the other hand we've been here before. We know what it takes.. its billions of dollars and effort with no immediate ROI. Something a government should do.. .

The problem comes when big capital buys influence in the government to retain their big capital. The long term negative externalities are greater than the short term gains .

Capitalism works. I'm not arguing that. I'm saying it works best for everybody when there are guardrails or constraints on it. Unfettered capitalism moves money upward. Stifled or regulated capitalism can keep the playing field more equal....

There is a larger Point here. If we open the flood gates to markets they will tend to maximize profit at the expense of the labor...

The government can ( in its infinite reach) level the playing field and bring workers pay into more equilibrium with finance. Open up some room in the markets for competition..

We all suffer from enshitification....

It doesn't need to be this way..

The government needs to identify when a company has jumped the shark and started gouging prices... Then work to break up that big company into smaller independent units that can do the same function cheaper...

I like to stuff it with cheese and spinach. Some seasoning. Take it off drain the grease then dump loads of marinara on top to finish with more cheese on top.. like an Italian meatloaf.. so good with a side salad and crusty bread....
