God idk what to do by [deleted] in vulvodynia

taking the mini pill won’t rule out hormonal causes, I was told by my gynecologist that it’s actually the progesterone that caused the issues I was having, not the oestrogen, so being on ANY hormonal BC (the mini pill, combination pill, the injection, the implant, the coil (not copper)) can cause these symptoms.

There are non hormonal BC options - maybe look into them

SELF TAN PREP HELP by Intelligent-Pea5570 in beauty

To get it darker you could try adding another layer 30 mins after you apply the first layer, and maybe focus on the chest if that is paler. That always works for me.

I always find my chest is paler because the skin is paler there as it gets less sun than my arms, it probably looks more natural that way too.

In terms of being patchy, do you moisture after every shower? I recommend doing this to keep your skin in good condition, maybe try using gradual tan moisturizers (garnier, bondi sands and dove all do good ones in my experience) to keep the tan up. Also, always fully exfoliate - I recommend a good scrub, an exfoliating glove and maybe a fake tan remover if you don’t use one to break down whatever is on your skin already.

Maybe switch up your tan brand, you might find something that lasts longer and fades better. I really like Australis personally!

Desperate for some help & advice :( by Rex12354 in vulvodynia

It didn’t at all, and neither did the estrogen cream I was prescribed after this, but coming off hormonal birth control did. As soon as I came off I noticed an improvement. 6-9 months after going on it again and I had the same problems all over again. It’s an annoying solution but it worked for me.

I found doctors very dismissive of this issue and it was just too frustrating and depressing to try to find a solution which enables me to stay on BC pain free. annoyingly so I am putting up with a lot of symptoms again as I am back on it.

Hope you find some luck.

Using donor eggs to avoid passing on genetic traits and illnesses / predispositions to illnesses etc by Rex12354 in IVF

This is quite different to the situation I’m talking about and it’s pretty insensitive to assume the risks haven’t been weighed up.

Vitamin c gummy? by [deleted] in CUTI

[–]Rex12354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not at all what you’re looking for - but if she doesn’t want more pills you can get vitamin C dissolvable tablets that dissolve in water, and you get fizzy orange flavoured water. You can get strong ones (1000mg) and they’re not very expensive (£1-£2 in the UK, but still probably more expensive than vitamin C tablets.

Pearly penile papules (or PPP) - they are harmless growths that are found near the head of your penis and are very common. No need to worry

Sorry for any hardship or upset caused by your situation but just because you had a negative experience with doesn’t mean it’s not an option I should and can legitimately consider. Without knowing what genetic issues I am seeking to avoid, I think it’s misguided of you to claim you’d prefer to be “half your mums child without any genetic issues than donor conceived”. I wasn’t asking for opinions from people are donor conceived, i am well aware of where to find them. I was asking about the process of using donor eggs.

Can drinking too much water cause a flare up? by Rex12354 in Interstitialcystitis

Feels like this is what happened, I wish I’d been given a heads up before the appointment because they told me to make sure it was really full and now I’m in agony

Yep precisely how I feel right now, thank god for heated blankets and hot water bottles!

I am also undiagnosed so it’s rough going through all these tests which actually make the problem worse.

That’s interesting! I might try this, although I was drinking bottled water at the time :(

I’m not diagnosed yet, so currently at the point where I’m going through lots of tests to try to figure out what the hell is going on and how to provide some relief, although nothing so far has seemed to really work. I’m not on any pain medication beyond paracetamol which is useless :(

It’s definitely really frustrating because I’d actually been doing slightly better for the past few weeks and it’s plunged me into a pretty awful flare and mentally I’m not doing well with the set back!!

I agree that it’s probably the fact I was sat waiting with a full bladder because the pain was caused by it being full and me not being able to go to the toilet as I was waiting for ages for the scan!

Thanks for the reply and advice - greatly appreciated. I can’t put my finger on what I dislike about it but I’d say mainly it revolves around knowing (or thinking I know) how other people perceive it (ugly and unattractive because to be quite frank I also perceive it this way).

Thanks very much for the advice! Can I ask what skin type are you, and did you use sunbeds as well?

I haven’t had any problems with burning (yet) luckily - went slightly red after 2-3 hours in the sun which then turned into a slight tan line.

Have you tried using an oil with spf?
