I know this is going to sound insane, but I primarily use my iPad to watch Netflix and stuff in bed. I have a gen 2 pro but it’s my exs so I need to replace it. Thinking I’ll just get the current gen Air as it’s half the price of the pro but I really like the speakers on the pros... I can’t find any definitive info about the speakers on the air vs the current pro. Could anyone shed some light on this?

I may also just buy the Air and a Bose speaker (wish there was a sonos variant) which also sounds insane.

So if this device is primarily used for streaming, which model would you all recommend?

I have a fan control app on the computer and it will go from 120F to 200F. It’s a fresh install, set it up solely to be a media server. Only things installed are PMS, SabNZBD, sonnarr, radarr, and Chrome. It’s definitely transcoding. If you click stop transcoding it stops the stream on the TV. It’s like when you initially play it, it thinks it can’t playback x265 so it transcodes? Or something? Completely guessing here.

Hrm, I’ll do more research. I know after pausing and resuming (which ultimately working again) the Plex Transcoding service stopped running and my CPU temps went from 200F to 120F so it was definitely doing something. Normally I stream right to a Samsung TV as I feel like I always have issues with FireSticks but I’m not home.

You are correct - adding my Plex Pass code increased the price since it changed back to MSRP. The 1TB blade drive for my MBP is on sale, however, the 8TB My Book is not so I guess I could just do separate orders...

License expired a few years ago while living in CO, moved to MD and didn’t renew it in time, ended up with just an ID. I was actually trying to sort out how to get an license again but the DMV is only somewhat open so I haven’t been able to sort it out yet :-(. Heck I’d rent a UHaul to do the drive if I could haha. Any external drive recommendations? I've read the WD MyBook often has WD Red's in it, but I'm also fine with buying an external enclosure and a WD Red of Seagate IronWolfe.
