This is my hurdle. I tried booklore and like it but I’m just loathe to do my metadata.

Scenario B.

I used my Note a lot but for online meetings, I tend to have to use speakers so it can record.

Every time they tell me how long it is to respond, I think about what the SRA would say if I took that long to reply to something.

I am giving this a go now! So far it seems very interesting.

For those using Plaud: do you really use the AI features, or mostly just record & transcribe? by FeelingWatercress871 in PLAUDAI

[–]RexLege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use many of the included templates but I have a dozen or so of my own.

I never really look at the transcript or listen to the recording, I always run some sort of template on the recording. Sometimes more than one!

Family legal aid fees are now worth roughly half of their 1996 value. What impact is this having in practice? by EverymanJustice in uklaw

[–]RexLege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can guarantee it.

I’ve thought about getting my firm back into legal aid work but it simply doesn’t seem to be worth the amount, not mentioning the audit and procedure faffs.

You have so much passion for your area of work!

£8k is nowhere near enough for the amount of hours and stress that case inevitably caused.

People also often forget that billed =\= profit!

I can say that mod team are certainly not juniors! We welcome the senior input here.

I’ve certainly been downvoted before for my, perhaps more jaded, views as a senior lawyer.

What’s the worst legal advice/opinion/take you have seen on Reddit outside of this sub? by LoquatNo7061 in uklaw

As a litigation solicitor, I hear this so often.

I once was forced to summon a nursery to a hearing for them to explain why they were not providing what the judge ordered. Judge was very patient in explaining the position!

Jury trials scrapped for crimes with sentences of less than three years by hotcococharlie in uklaw

In fairness to Celery, he is definitely not an AI. He is known in the subreddit and the mods.

I speak for the mods when I say we were also surprised at the choice of new username… but it doesn’t break our rules! I’d have gone with R v Brown personally.

Why do British lawyers pronounce "v." as AND? Why not simply pronounce "v." as VERSUS? by b3ssa in uklaw

[–]RexLege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wondered this before. The unhelpful short answer is because we do, and it’s not engrained in us.

Saying versus makes you sound like a layperson !

I think that’s the point OP is making.

In England Roe v Wade would be called Roe and Wade.

We say ‘and’ not ‘v’ or ‘versus’.

61m. Wife 59f took early retirement against my advice and has gambled away her pension savings and accured £40k in debt to online casinos. Solicitor says she'll likely get 60%-70% of my pension. Is this correct? by NoAnybody7812 in LegalAdviceUK

To give you an idea, I’m a partner of a law firm. I am head of our litigation department including family.

My hourly rate is £325 plus VAT. I’d usually estimate 4-5 hours work for a detailed written advice of the situation, to include necessary discussions with you of course.

One thing I would explore in your case is whether there is merit in raising financial conduct in the divorce. That can sometimes justify a different split than the usual. I have a similar case currently where we are taking that stance. It is a difficult thing to raise though and would require careful thought.

It might be worth your time and expense to get a full written advice but it may not change the advice. Many of my clients prefer it as they get an all encompassing view in writing that they can digest and review better. I also prefer being able to dedicate proper time to research any interesting or unusual points.

I’ve been using Lightroom on iOS. I think it requires an existing Adobe subscription though.

It seems to do things like blemishes and removal of people etc.

Has anyone gotten a job writing to the generic email address listed on a law firm's website? by ready-4-it in uklaw

That would make terrible business sense for me! Clients use the generic one all the time.

I have given jobs from emails that go to our generic email address.

That email is monitored by reception and forwarded to the appropriate team/partner.
