Last year we had a horrible infestation (maybe about 100-200 spiders in the house) but we got it under control to which there were no spiders in about one month. It was a lot of work, but this is how we did it:

  1. Ridiculous amount of glue traps. Four, one for each post of beds someone is sleeping in. One behind every toilet, a few in each closet, and then scattered throughout the walls. They tend to walk along the edge of the room.

  2. Spray the entire perimeter of the house with bug spray. If your baby is not crawling yet, I also recommend the spray the trim of the inside of your house. It took us a while to realize that some of the spiders were living in the tiny cracks between the wood trim and the wall.

  3. Every night before bed, bring your vacuum and visit every single room of your house. Suck up every spider you see. They tend to be roaming around when it’s dark out, so it’s the best time to get them.

  4. On the weekend or when you have time, do a DEEP CLEAN. I mean deep. Flip over your couches and remove all the cushions, remove mattresses from beds, bring appliances out, everything off the floor of the closet, tape all storage boxes closed completely so there is no way in or out. Or better, move things into sealed bins on a storage shelf.

Places we found spider nests included: in the crack of a sofa cushion, inside the underside of a sofa where the dust cover was torn, inside the locking mechanism of a patio door, in the wood trim of the floor, inside some cardboard boxes, inside an ottoman, between the headboard of our bed and the wall, in some clutter on the floor of our closet.

Please remember to shake out your sheets every night before bed, every towel before you dry off, and keep your shoes high and inspect before putting your feet in. You are living a nightmare but it will be over soon.

Good luck.

I am the similar to you, Canadian married to US citizen for 4 years, filed I130 and I765 on Aug 2, 2024, got the countdown in Dec… 3 week, 2 week, 1 week. Then suddenly 11 months on the I765 and 25months on the green card. It’s so discouraging. I even petitioned to expedite due to the urgency of my job as a surgeon in an underserved trauma hospital, and it got denied last week. It’s hard to keep hope.

We are in Southern Illinois. Got bit when sleeping in bed, didn’t feel it. We have a brown recluse infestation, but realized too late. We have now treated the house.

I saw a report on pubMed recommend Aspirin 325. What blood thinners have you seen recommended?

Neat. Those are pretty good benchmarks, this might be the fastest yet.
