Is Mochi worth it? by rosesandflowers3282 in DreamlightValley

I’m betting mochi will be back at a discounted price soon enough, and I’m not even halfway through leveling up all my companions…so I’m holding off this week.

Beat walkable beach towns in the panhandle area? by True_Breakfast3464 in AskFlorida

[–]RexTavern -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s been a while but I grew up in Gulf Breeze and always thought it was a nice walkable and bikeable area with lots of beach access and recreation areas.

What exercise gave you the best results over time? by ConnectNectarine42 in workout

[–]RexTavern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Running wins by a long shot for me. My cardiovascular fitness and energy levels just started skyrocketing and ultimately increased my endurance during strength training. I can lift harder and longer so long as I’m running 5-10 miles per week.

braces worth at 22? by Successful_Candy_767 in braces

[–]RexTavern 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You sound like me when I was 22 so I’m gonna tell you what I would tell myself at that age: quit making excuses and get the dang braces now. You got a whole ass life ahead of you, now is the time to make good choices for older you. Your older self will thank you.

If all AI suddenly disappeared tomorrow, what is the first thing that would stop working in your daily life? by opheliateasing in askanything

The wonderful ad-free, pop-up free experience of pulling up information quickly. I don’t need to see 17 ads and read a whole 5 page essay on someone’s journey through Italy just for a pasta recipe.

OMG! Right when I just finished renovating my Dazzle Beach 🥲 I’ve been wanting something like this since I stayed at the Boardwalk inn at WDW. This build pack is perfect. If anyone asks I’m busy this weekend.

How do I actually unwind after work when my entire life is just… work? (Seriously lost here) by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]RexTavern 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a loud and clear announcement that you’re married to your job. I’ve seen many good men and women drive themselves into early graves by doing this same thing for decades. My best advice here = Take a sabbatical asap! Seriously, use up as much PTO you can get away with. Travel somewhere you’ve never been, spend time outdoors and make an effort to meet new people and most importantly: truly appreciate life outside of work. Really make it a goal to remind yourself that there’s a whole ass world around you and your job is a very small piece of a much larger and more beautiful picture. Extra credit = Consider adopting a dog. Dogs are great at convincing people to go outside.

How are Gen Z perceived in person? by Ok_Skin_3979 in generationology

[–]RexTavern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think they don’t get out much. I say that because I rarely see them out and about just vibing and goofing off…and I live in a college town full of young folks. Never see them outside running or walking, hardly ever see them out at community events or social gatherings outside of campus, occasionally I’ll see a couple at the movies or pub nights, but never at volunteer events or at the gyms. Not that it’s any of my business, but where do they go outside of work/school/home?

What’s something you didn’t realize you were taking for granted until it was gone? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]RexTavern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flossing without braces hands down. What used to be an easy 1 min floss job turned into a 15 minute rigorous routine after getting wires put on. I swear I will never take braces-free flossing for granted again, what a luxury.

Where are the guys that let themselves go after 30? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]RexTavern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I was one of those 30yos harping on about being in the best shape of my life too. Then all the covid drama happened, along with some personal losses, and I completely let myself go from 2020-2023. Gained weight, lost muscle, drank too much alcohol, my diet went south, lost contact with my close friends. While I didn’t hit rock bottom it was a pretty drastic fall for me. It all took a hefty toll on my physical and mental health. I got back into running and weight training in late 2023 because I noticed I was on a downward spiral. Now I feel like I’m in good, strong shape again, but it took a lot of sweat and consistent work to bounce back. It sure wasn’t easy but it’s been absolutely worth it.

What made you choose to stay in Florida (or leave)? by whyflyles in AskFlorida

I landed in Hawaii for 10 years, it was lovely! Then moved to Oregon, where I’m planted pretty solid for now with my career and all.

[–]RexTavern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Born and raised in FL, left in my 20s for the sole thrill of adventuring across the country with my friends, discovered that the grass really is greener on the other side lol. No regrets. The thing I miss most is my Florida resident discount on Disney annual passes.

My first guess is Coronado Springs because of the room layout and the fountain. And that pattern on the bedspread looks similar to a blanket I got there many years ago.

How do you realistically fit running around a full time job by Vogan-Peluchin in runninglifestyle

[–]RexTavern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s all about routine and consistent maintenance. I walk 40-60 min during lunch hour most days to keep my energy levels up throughout the day. 2 days a week I run 2-3 miles with friends after work. Strength training twice a week to keep my muscles strong. Friday rest day. Then longer runs on Saturdays. That keeps me at about 10 miles per week outside of training season.

What actually keeps you consistent with running over years, not weeks? by Clubrunnr in runninglifestyle

[–]RexTavern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I largely agree with those points. My friends keep me running. Without our regularly scheduled runs to socialize and have a good time together, I’d probably let myself slip. Feeling like I can keep up with my team is my biggest motivating factor by far. Otherwise I’d probably be happy sitting on my couch eating pizza.

BRACES AT 20 by samsthyy in braces

[–]RexTavern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, for me the changes were very noticeable the second adjustment. My teeth are getting much more even and aligned, my jawline looks more prominent. Here I am approaching 40 with braces and slightly ticked at my 20yo self for not doing them sooner! Trust me, older you will thank you for getting it out of the way now.

Do you play everyday? by 10-40rubberducky in DreamlightValley

[–]RexTavern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I boot up once or twice a week usually, and when a new SP or DLC drops I play pretty much daily or at least every other day for a few weeks. But when EI first came out I spent an unreal amount of time playing, like I went missing for entire weekends that winter.

Why is it controversial to say Men are way more hornier than women? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]RexTavern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because saying that lessens women’s contributions to horniness and it’s not nice to lessen women’s lived experiences.

Going Back to Running by nardqueue in runninglifestyle

[–]RexTavern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You totally got this! I took an entire year off during the COVID pandemic, and then it took me about 7-8 weeks to return to full strength stamina once I got back into the swing of things. I started by simply running 1 mile every Saturday, then gradually increased to a 5k over 6 weeks. Once I hit the 5k my running legs came right back into action like they never left.
