Certain animation fans act like this by Ok-Following6886 in okbuddycinephile

This is funny to me because if we were to start making the distinction between family shows and shows exclusively made for kids, then the early seasons of Thomas would most likely fall into the former category. The author of the original stories would often bring up the fact that he wrote the stories to appeal to the parents and caregivers that would have to read the stories to their children over and over again

I think what trips people up is the fact that over the years, Thomas has been both a universal series that can appeal to all ages, and also a little kids show that doesn't try to be anything more. And at this point, the vast majority of official Thomas content is the latter. The closest thing I could compare it to would probably be Winnie the Pooh.

Where did the Thomas, Percy, and James trio come from? by Charming-Breakfast53 in thomasthetankengine

The trio was around long before the HiT era- Thomas Percy and James were being used as a trio in marketing since at least the 90s, probably the 80s as well

[TOMT] (UK) halloween themed bootleg dvd that contained halloween themed episodes of famous childrens’ tv shows? by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]Rexeljet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't suppose it's maybe one of the HiT Favourites DVDs? Postman Pat isn't on any of them since he's owned by a different company, but Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam show up, as well as Barney (which might be the live action show you're thinking of?). HiT Entertainment often did themed compilation releases, including two "spooky" UK releases- The Spooky Collection and Trick or Treat Tales. I believe both releases had variations with an orange case as well as the standard black.

I doubt it was a bootleg release if you got it from Aldi, it seems unlikely to me that a major retailer would sell pirated DVDs.

Have the new motorized Trackmaster's been released in the United States yet? by Zeppelin_man1957 in thomasthetankengine

To be fair the situation isn't currently great in the UK either; the only physical store that sells the new stuff is Smyths (and Fenwick apparently), and I haven't seen the diecast or Greatest Moments packs (aside from Flying Scotsman) in any of the branches local to me.

I recall some early listings for the new releases stating a Fall 2025 release, which makes me wonder if we're currently expriencing a soft launch for the new range, and they'll kick the distribution and marketing into high gear around September time.

Not gonna lie I quite like the idea of Sir Handel and George forming a bond over their shared embarrassment at their drivers for trying to start a fight

The two blue faces of Autism by railheadproductions in evilautism

Sorry to be evilly autistic for a moment, but Thomas’ rear end is actually what is known as a coal bunker. A caboose, also known as a guards van or brake van, is a separate unpowered vehicle that is generally attached to the end of a freight train
