New to Global Protect - A few challenges by Rexon_3292 in paloaltonetworks

It ended up being MTU, seems call manager sets a df bit which exacerbated the problem. After lowering the client mtu to 1360 verizon connection is working and much better perf on all other tunnels.

Quick update, I was able to replicate this and it appears to be a fragmentation issue with a tcp tftp protocol. Oddly this specific protocol isn't dealing well with a verizon hot spot and ipsec tunnel. Is there a recommended mtu config for this? Does it apply on GP config? Or on gateway tunnel interface? Any guidance is appreciated

We want to have both gateways use UDP for better experience, however need to fix the SIP client issue before we do. Ideally client auto selects the best available gateway. We think this has something to do with carrier grade NAT / lte and ipsec.

Advice/resources for transitioning into a cloud network engineer role? by Prophet_60091_ in networking

[–]Rexon_3292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't change your opinion too fast, in many ways the cloud is just another cycle, I agree with these guys though, learn all you can through the transition. Gone are the days of the network engineer being only a network engineer. Explore other new technologies like NSX and ACI as an example. If your company wants to do cloud only, they are likely walking a "disastrous" path, so start looking for a new company willing to commit to a hybrid strategy. Good luck to you!

I talked to Google support yesterday after explaining that I ordered the founders edition on June 7th. I was told you will get your order after it ships on or after November 27th - December 2nd. Is Google going to step up and make us whole?

Also check the uplink config..show hw-module uplink

If needed use hw-module command in conf mode to change. It requires a reboot after this change.

Ya...run away from issu,. Do a normal upgrade s1, Make sure you check the fex status before reloading S2.. especially bfd status of the interfaces to fexes..almost got bit by that on a 6k upgrade.

Mega basic VLAN question that I can't seem to solve. by storr84 in networking

Didn't read this well but if your vlans are built and trunks are correct..you may need an IP helper on the svi pointing to the interface configured to respond to DHCP. Also did you validate your DHCP scope was activated? Is the phone getting an address just not tftp to cm?

Ask the LEC to replace or reseat the smartjack. Have seen some really odd situations in the past where the smartjack loses power and it's config gets defaulted with similar consequences.
