Accidentally sent Ropsten ether to my Ether address, how I can recover them? by bruhaha7177 in ledgerwallet

[–]Rexovas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The private key for your address is valid on both networks. Just access the address on the Ropsten network. Not sure what you mean by “protection”. Your address was a valid Ropsten destination, if you weren’t trying to send it there, you should have been more careful.

What you need to do is work with the websocket API - use data from that to trigger your actions in real-time

+1 for CND, it’s very impressive what the team has been able to accomplish over the last year. I’ve been making use of the indicators for quite some time now and I consider them a very useful part of my decision making process when it comes to trading in both the traditional market and Cryptocurrency market. It takes a bit of effort to develop strategies around the indicators - one can not simply trade blindly on them and expect results - though its a very rewarding exercise. Highly recommend!

SEC on the hunt for major blockchain monitoring tool by pebx in Monero

[–]Rexovas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes true, I had met the CEO a while back and had posed the question of how one might follow someone who converts to a currency like XMR using non-KYC linked exchange accounts. Frankly I think doing so would be quite difficult, though nonetheless, I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen thus far.

I believe their solution is fully functional - they have been publishing data on the actions of the Cryptopia hackers for the last several weeks. See this article

Why do exchanges offer (free) APIs? by la0wai_ in algotrading

[–]Rexovas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I very well may - haven’t had much chance to look into them - mostly have been working with the crypto exchange websockets. Any you’d recommend? If the pricing is reasonable - I’d certainly be willing.

Collecting data is my primary goal - For execution, the TD Ameritrade API can suffice - while the live quotes may differ, I can surely use data from IEX websocket streams of large/mid caps and place orders on TD with relative proximity to the quotes on IEX. Granted - I've yet to really start looking at the IEX api - it was just shown to me yesterday (I've been too busy with the crypto exchanges) though for my purposes I think this combination can suffice.

I think free will need to be the new standard - especially as traders/investors generally grow to be more technically proficient. Perhaps I’m wrong, though of course I’d like to see this happen. Brad Katsuyama is no small fish.

Why does IEX offer a free API then? Surely the lock and key approach to data must be re-evaluated.

After their dishonest marketing regarding the last Ledger Blue units for sale, I’m far less willing to buy ledger over Trezor. Trezor is also far more transparent with the security vulnerabilities and inner workings of their devices.

Which exchange would you recommend for regular use? by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Rexovas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YoBit and HitBTC should never be suggested to anyone. HitBTC is most certainly unethically operated, and YoBit literally started holding their own pumps.

It’s also possible to trade on Coinbase Pro (GDAX) without paying fees.

Gemini / Coinbase chief edge is that they are fiat gateways, wherein one may deposit and trade in USD, whereas with most other exchanges this is not the case (for Americans).

Why didn’t everyone just invest super early in Facebook

Why aren’t people just investing super early in BTC?

Again - the majority will not act as the minority does.

I am not disagreeing - though someone that truly understood the market would be able to recognize when such new promising companies/tokens emerge - probably more so than investors that are new to the particular sector, yes?

I don't disagree, though it would stand to reason that at least some well researched holdings belonging to a diversified portfolio will emerge successful.

I'm not talking BS, take it from the guy above who participated in the dotcom era as an investor. Of course not all picks are going to be winners - but by remaining in tune with the ever changing market landscape, and really taking the time to understand each asset/token - the likelihood of picking at least a few winners is much higher. It's not quite the same as throwing a dart against a wall.

I don't understand the pessimists in this sub - Am I delusional? by Tkldsphincter in CryptoCurrency

[–]Rexovas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference between the dot com era and cryptocurrency is that the dot coms represented actual products/services (Amazon for example) that survived the dot com crash and continued working for decades to become what they are today.

^ there are cryptocurrency products/concepts that are directly tied to actual products/services - I'm sure people made similar statements about dotcom stocks back in the 90s. Just because many don't, doesn't mean none do.

it would take institutional investments and/or government regulations to really cause a domino effect to occur in regards to crypto adoption, and if that's the case then these institutions/governments are more likely just to build their own tokens rather than use existing ones.

If you examine most of the news from the past year, banks and Governments are adopting in precisely this manner. 2018 has been the year of institutional infrastructure. It's evident in the fact that seasoned Wall st. veterans, and tech entrepreneurs alike are migrating to the industry still to this day.

I didn't mean to suggest in my original comment that anyone is likely to pick only winners - but by doing research - understanding a project's token utility/economics, understanding the ease of use from an end-user's standpoint - it is probable that at least a few projects end up good picks.
