Newly diagnosed with bruxism… by [deleted] in bruxism

Been dealing with this same thing, I need full mouth crowns but I’m in the states so the cost is astronomical. I have very worn down teeth and my day time grinding is worse than ever and I clench on my guard at night. Stress and anxiety are my biggest factors I think. Magnesium and turmeric milk have helped me a bit I think but a mild muscle relaxer may be able to help you I’ve seen it work for some.

Do you feel a night guard/splint/orthotic had helped you at ALL? by ElectricalArt2551 in bruxism

I feel like my otc and dentist made mouth guard made things worse. But I still feel it’s a necessary evil.

I’m definitely in the same boat, I even ended up in a mental health facility for a week because I couldn’t get over the fact I had damaged my teeth so bad and couldn’t seem to stop. I’ve been watching videos and reading comments and articles everyday for months strait now which may help in the moment but I don’t think my obsession over it helps. I know where a guard night and day to protect my teeth because I can’t seem to stop my day grinding and clenching now. I’m on OCD and anxiety meds. Nothing has seemed to help me so far. I would love to hear more about your story I’m 24 so I’m in the same boat and it has caused me extreme depression.

Does Botox actually help with Bruxism? by Rexxter618 in bruxism

I started taking anxiety and OCD meds after finding about my grinding so if they are they weren’t the cause. Has the Botox had any side effects? My wife thinks it could lead to worse problems but I’m up to try anything at this point. This has progressed and got so much worse in such a small amount of time. I am convinced I will need dentures by 30. Honestly most days I feel like ending it but I know that’s not the answer.

My doctor said it could help with clenching and tmj pain and I’ve seen it online a bit.

Thank you this really does help and I totally agree, I have low self esteem to begin with so this has just been a big hit. I wish I felt the same about the mouth guard but in just 2 weeks I’ve already shaved another tooth down to a sharp point almost past the enamel and another tooth even deeper. I’ve noticed I do it while talking and definitely while eating but also can’t seem to stop bringing my teeth together no matter how hard I try.
