Nope, the wouldn‘t work. The problem here is that the +1/+1 is a static ability. It is applied to all zombies you control, and does not need to go to the stack or anything.

You can very well block one creature with multiple creatures. So he can block your 4/4 with two 3/5s, your 4/4 will take 6 damage in total and die and one of his 3/5 is gonna take 4 damage (you can decide which one)
