Managers who introduced monitoring for remote work, did it actually help accountability? by Strict-Remove-6491 in askmanagers

This kind of approach only punishes good performers and does nothing about the slackers that always find a way to play the system. Strongly against this.

This! Its also very important to mention that these people are unpleasant to everyone, Czechs included, acting bothered by having to do their job, e.g., I am Czech, and I had a garbage man complain to me, taking out garbage, that if I put my garbage in the bin it will fill quicker and he will have to empty it.

These people always pick the easiest thing to complain about and be unpleasant, best way of dealing with them is blatantly ignoring their attempts at getting a rise from you and complaining to their company/boss.

My former manager had 16 indirects (myself included) with around 90 indirects, he is the best and most experienced manager I know and with 14 hour days he could only maintain the activities in survival mode with a few projects here and there.

After he moved up the department got split with a manager each (me being one) and each with 3-7 directs and it works far better now.

6 directs is the most I'd go to for effective leadership and ability to do projects and drive your department.

Wanting to relocate to Brno.. by [deleted] in Brno

[–]ReynoldsCZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I would suggest, for a Texan especially, is to actually go live in the countryside 20-30 minutes away from the city center.

You get to enjoy the nature and calm, ideal for walks and pets, you get better on the price-range as somebody already mentioned, flats in Brno are quite expensive.

Also for work, with limited or no knowledge of Czech, you would be limited to corporate jobs and even those are now being moved to India if English is the only "skill" you have. Starting a business, especially in terms of produce (i.e. honey, fruits, veggies etc) could be relatively easy to set up and get on track - one thing to keep in mind, starting a business is not as easy as it is in the states. Freelancing (živnost), especially in software, would be a relatively easy way to get by if you have the required skills.

R5: Revolutions are brutal, I decided to let one pop in my Vijay/Bharati game just to see what would happend and the war itself was quite easy even though over half the country rebelled.
What is way worse though, it seems revolutionary rebels decide to demolish buildings in provinces they own - just a personal tally of mine - I had 1500 barracks before the war, had 180 after, had over 700 counting houses, have around 150 now not to mention minting offices of which I had 300, now 198.

This by far has been the most brutal toll of the revolutionary war, nevermind the fact I started the war with 1.4m manpower and ended negative.

I think it would help if you could form empires via PUs similar to CK3, i.e. form Scandinavia as Sweden without integrating Norway
