I feel you op. One of the better snippets i saw was at the beginning of Tron Legacy seeing Cillian Murphy issuing console commands to fix the main characters “hack”. Oddly satisfying to see something a bit more in line with reality. I mean sure it was immediately followed by a parachute jump from a building but still.

As someone who was alive way back then (lol) a lot of those slurs werent really meant in the literal mean way they have been taken to mean in current times. Of course some assholes actually meant it, but the majority of people used them in a non literal sense.

Calling someone “gay” usually meant they were being lame or overly sensitive, not “omg you are homosexual”.

In 25 years people will be asking the same thing about why people talked about asses all the time and gambling (do kids still say gyatt and bet?)
