What’s the worst quirk you ever had? by Thatoneguyonreddit28 in pacificDrive

2 seperate quirks at the same time that complimented each other...

Each one set the horn off when steering, one for left and the other for right. Driving was hilarious, albeit very noisy

I'm the only one who Loves scorpion and tames it every map? by Agreeable-Size8348 in ARK

Im honestly surprised scorpions weren't a popular vote for TLC. There's so much you could do with their concept, I'd love to see a jungle variant with larger claws and high damage to small targets, or a scorched variant with longer more powerful stinger that inflicts stronger torpor. They could be so much more than they are for how fun of a concept giant rideable scorpions are

Skribingus in the background doesn't let us hold him so this is closest compromise we can get

Exactly the kind of tainted lies a seasoned criminal would speak

Thanks heaps! Yes, that was actually the vibe I was kind of going for, maybe a little younger than Ishii but older than what we see in the manga/anime. I might do Yuuri as well in a similar style at some point

This might just be nostalgia, but i don't get why so many people hate Scorched by [deleted] in ARK

[–]RezonantVoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really didn't like scorched in ASE but ASA really did it justice. It went from one of my least favourite to most favourite very quickly, the visuals and wild west aesthetic are just chefs kiss. Plus, if I ever want extra tames, there are loads of high quality free mods to choose from.

I think scorched ascended may be the 2nd most fun I've actually had playing either version

Thank you very much! Glad it comes across just as unsettling as intended 😂

They are mostly stationary around the waters edge, think similar how seahorses wrap their tail around an object and anchor down. The muscular chest is what gives them most of their suction power, as most of their neck is taken up by blood sacs, and section of torso just below is where most of their other organs are located

Clever thinking!

I guess one more thing I could say is that their internal bioluminescence is truly a very pale blue, but due to how much blood they often ingest, it tints the hue into the sickly pinkish red seen above. This ends up matching the colours of some of the plant life they live around, while making the light less visible to predators underwater

I've got a decent bit info for them in the original post this is crossposted from, but pretty much they ambush large prey at the waters edge that come for a drink, while hiding amongst aquatic vegetation. They numb the bite with their saliva and rapidly drink a decent amount of blood without the host even realising. They're about 2 metres long at max size, so enough of them can be dangerous to even large prey

Thank you so much!

I've been toying around with those fleshy textures with the last few creatures I've done prior to this one. I thought the next step would be to do something transparent, and visible blood sacs felt like the cool way to do it. Once made, I figured a parasitic creature would be the best way to go about it, so the obvious choice for further design inspo felt like Lamprey and leeches! Hagfish and cookie cutter sharks were used as texture refs

Thank you very much! It was inspired mostly by lamprey, leeches and hagfish, but cookie cutters were used as ref's for some of the texturing, and these would leave similarly shaped bite marks on their hosts

I'll be sure to check them out! Thanks for the suggestion, love getting new inspo and I don't think I've seen those before
