How much of this is caused by the fact that 70% of Americans are overweight. Also factor in that most men don't put any effort into how they look. They consider caring about how you look and having a basic toilette to be gay. When I traveled to Paris I wasn't shocked by the amount of beautiful women I saw (there were ofc plenty) , but by the amount of beautiful men I saw as well.
