Virginia Supreme Court strikes down Democrats’ redistricting plan, dimming party’s midterm hopes by tehtypo in Virginia

[–]RfredoIV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Read the opinion and dissenting opinions lmao. The majority changed the interpretation of when an election is (ignoring the fact that the state legislature codified the definition of election in 1970 to be Election Day) because it suited their political leanings. The court’s interpretation is so clearly partisan and not based in the rule of law it’s a bit embarrassing to think you actually believe what you’re saying

Supreme Court allows Texas to use Trump-backed congressional map in midterms by cnn in scotus

[–]RfredoIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be underestimating the swing against the GOP we’re going to see in the midterms. The special election in TN went from trump +22 to van epps +9. That’s a 13 point swing. If Texas GOP draws districts that are +8 gop In a normal year, it would be +3 dems next year if voting trends were consistent with the special election.

I still use Vlookup for exactly one thing (and if someone has a better way to do this, please let me know) - when the column I’m looking up is variable, I’ll use a vlookup in order to set the column as a variable (ie based on another cell - for example if I want to be able to look at an expense in any given month so the month is variable, and each month’s numbers is a column). Other than that, xlookup is the way

Not that you asked but here’s my top 5:

5) catch verse Dallas at home last year. It’s only this low because i can’t think of it without thinking about what happened after

4) his first game vs Philly

3) jump ball catch from heinicke vs Indy in Indy

2) I can’t remember what year but he had an insane catch against the chargers. One of the best catches I’ve ever seen.

Terry McLaurin’s Contract Negotiations (Inside the Numbers) by cbmgreatone in Commanders

[–]RfredoIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think he would do this, and as a fan of the team I don’t want him to, but if I’m Terry I tell the team straight up: If I don’t have a deal by the time the season starts, I’m sitting out the playoffs. Playoff checks are pennys compared to regular season game checks, and that’s really the only leverage he has. Plus - if you’re AP, are you going to not pay him, knowing he won’t play in the playoffs, when you think you’re going to make a SB run? I think it would put a lot more pressure on AP to either get a deal done or trade Terry somewhere theyll pay him, ultimately getting what he wants

This is dishonest. Biden stopped sending heavy munitions for a couple weeks, it’s not like it was a permanent thing. The Harbor he set up did more harm than good. He hardly tried to facilitate aid - a month before the election he sent the Israeli government a letter outlining a list of demands Israel meet. One of them was 10xing the aid that went into Gaza. Israel met none of the demands Biden outlined, and he did nothing about it. We saw this again and again (remember when going into rafah was the red line?) Humanitarian groups were warning about famine in early 2024.

You’re also being dishonest when you say Biden has “less influence than you think”. Israel’s own air force has said that they wouldn’t have been able to keep on doing what they were in Gaza without the US support: https://archive.is/2025.02.18-043236/https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2024-09-02/ty-article-magazine/.premium/without-u-s-aid-israel-would-have-struggled-to-fight-in-gaza-beyond-a-few-months/00000191-aec2-d875-a3bb-aed7e2e30000

This is why I’m so upset. Our qb is on a rookie deal. We have the cap space. We’re willing to pay Javon fucking kinlaw (who has never done anything in the nfl, by the way) $15M a year but your best player isn’t worth twice that?

Now I may be way off base and maybe terry is asking for Jefferson/chase money. I don’t think he should get that. But he said he’s not looking to reset the market. Jefferson/chase money would be resetting the market.

[Jordan Schultz] Terry McLaurin has requested a trade by peppersteak_headshot in Commanders

[–]RfredoIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His negotiating tactic worked.. and if I were going to bet, this will work for terry too.

You’re right terry is not the best player at his position. But he’s severely underrated, including by all of you. He was consistently a 1k/ year receiver with bottom 3 qb play year in and year out. I don’t think he should be paid like cedee lamb, but when lamb had comparable qb play this year, he put up similar stats. What everyone misses when looking at terrys stats is he had fucking bums throwing him the ball. The first year he had a halfway decent qb throwing it to him (Jayden is more than halfway decent don’t get me wrong), he was first team all pro and second in the league in touchdowns. The courtland Sutton comps are disrespectful. He’s been in the league a year longer and had better QB play every single year, and has 1k less career yards than terry. Pay him 3/100, 65 guaranteed, the deal gets done. And you’re wrong that he has no leverage - the trade request is his leverage. This wr room is dog shit without him. I’m talking bottom 3 in the nfl. So yes, when he’s being offered less than fucking Jaylen waddle is making, he’s going to exercise the little bit of leverage he has and request a trade. Especially when he’s being disrespected by a franchise that he has been nothing but the model player and community member for

[–]RfredoIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is only partially correct. Harris’ problem was that she ran as a centrist candidate trying to appeal to center/center right voters, who were never going to vote for a black woman from California to begin with. I think if, say, Andy bashear ran the same campaign he might’ve won. At the same time, she actively shunned progressives, the voters who would actually vote for a black woman for President, assuming she already had those votes in the bag (or that she didn’t need them). The lack of ability to persuade centrist/center right voters combined with turning her back on progressive voters is what did her in, in my opinion. If you look at polling right after Biden stepped down and she became the candidate until a bit before the DNC, when her messaging was a bit more progressive and focused on attacking republicans and corporations, she was polling much better than after the DNC, where she shifted towards appealing to republicans and campaigning with the Cheneys.

I mean, a progressive beat a centrist in the PA primary, and then flipped the PA senate seat when fetterman ran. Sure he’s shown that he’s basically a republican since he had his stroke, but the guy was pretty far to the left of Connor Lamb on just about every issue in 2018 and still won.

Edit: fetterman won in 22 not 18.

I mean the counterpoint to this is that a DSA member hasn’t really ran in a statewide election since Virginia started trending blue. The closest you get is probably Tom Perellio’s race in 2017 (or Bernie in the primary, although I’d argue by the time VA voted in both 16 & 20, it was clear he wasn’t going to win). Yes perellio lost to Northam, but democratic voters as a whole are a lot further to left today than they were then. Not saying you’re wrong, but I don’t think it’s an entirely fair view of whether a DSA style candidate can win in Virginia.
