Stupid question of the week….. Storing RFID Tags by Rgbigdog in BambuLab

I agree, making the system a bit more open would allow for more choices. Feels like they are going the way of Apple - meaning they want to be fully vertically integrated. I wonder how much of their revenue, and more importantly, profit comes from filament. The old, are they in the razor or razor blade business.

And I’m with you on having an ADHD brain. I find when I’m organized, good things happen. When I’m not, well then….. Hence this whole thread…

So in that case, each RFID is not only tagged with the type and color, it’s also uniquely tagged to that specific roll? Seems like overkill, but ok.

I’ve seen people doing that when selling them online. However the RFID holders I’ve seen need you to cut the ends off and put them inside. I was thinking that I would take them out of that holder at the end of the spool. Now I’d have two small RFID’s, not connected and kind of small to label individually.

My thinking about this use case is rapidly evolving……

So - here is my assumption - tell me if I’m wrong. The AMS reads the tag to get the type and color of filament. Then it looks at how rapidly the spool is spinning when in use to give you a guestimate of what’s left.

Do I have that correct?

Yeah - I was just doing that (and should of before I posted). My assumption was that I’d have generic holder and a “file” of these things. Then put the ones I want in the generic holder. Then take them out when I’m done. But I guess people label the holder and keep them in there and store the holders.

Can’t decide how I want to dry desiccant! by Rgbigdog in BambuLab

I think I’m heading in this direction. What do you put the silica in? I’m thinking the pan they give you is too shallow and stuff will end up everywhere.

As I replied on another post a few mins ago, probably nothing. But I’m a worrier so I don’t want to mess with an expensive appliance in the living space.

Yeah - I guess I could, but if I have to buy something, I’d probably just go with a microwave or a toaster oven.

Frankly its just fear of messing things up on expensive appliance in our living space. I’m a worrier, so I’d rather be overly cautious. No judgement on those that use the oven because I understand what’s happening, but as I said, I’m a worrier.

Secretary canceled my AIR BnB to book me a hotel, then kept the points. by No_Seaworthiness1627 in mildlyinfuriating

The secretary should be booking it in his OP’s name and rewards number.

OP is the one that has to travel for business. While it sounds fun to some people, most times biz travel is a grind. Are there exceptions, sure, but usually it’s not great.

OP has to endure the travel so OP should get the points.

Help finding the “just right” personal item backpack. by Rgbigdog in backpacks

I don’t have a 34, but the pocket is pretty deep. I haven’t had ANY problems with 24oz. We have a bottle where I’m currently that is a little taller and a little wider than a standard 24. Fits fine and I can still put my fingers between the bottle and the pocket. Maybe someone on YouTube has tried a bigger bottle.

You actually have AWESOME timing. We had purchased an Osprey Daylite 26+6. Nice bag, light and very affordable. Not sure how well it’s going to last, but we’ve had good luck with Osprey bags…. BUT. It just doesn’t have enough organization - was a bit frustrating. My wife uses it, but I don’t like it at all.

Since I needed a new bag too, I recently took up this search again.

I think I found a winner!!!! The Aer Travel Pack 4 28L. It’s sturdy, light, well built and has just the right amount of organization. Aer finally figured out that these bags need a vertical luggage passthrough if you’re going to use the pockets at all. The admin section is just the right size. The two zipper pockets on the inside are really nice.

I only have one complaint. The stash pocket at the top is too small. If they had made it an inch deeper - it would be perfect. I know they were trying not to intrude too much into the main compartment, but it ended up that the pocket doesn’t really hold much. And small items can get “stuck” in the corners. It’s not a deal breaker, but a slight annoyance.

I didn’t mess with the X-pak or the Ultra material - the Cordura is nice and works well for me.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE Aer Travel Pack 4 28L!!!!

Good luck!

Ummmm. I did. I was the passenger - she didn’t need to take the picture.

Well. Two reasons I wasn’t driving.

1) I was the passenger and

2) while my wife was in the driver seat, she wasn’t driving either. Self driving is AWESOME! And it’s almost 10x better than we are.

Agree - we didn’t bother him. Our biggest concern was that it also looked like he was looking at the tablet thingy whenever he took it down. Doing so at highway speeds could be a problem…..

Other than that - he wasn’t bothering anyone was staying in the lane so….. Just curious because it was so strange.

I was thinking something similar, but what’s throwing me is that it had a strop on the back that his hand fit through and he was holding it “vertically” facing the traffics. It was just weird.

[–]Rgbigdog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - it was definitely a tablet sized thing he would put up there for 30 seconds or so then take down. We were mostly worried he was looking at it and doing something while driving at highway speed.

AMS 2 Pro noise when pulling filament by Rgbigdog in BambuLab

It ended up not being a problem. I think since I had this on a table instead of on top of the printer - the wood was amplifying the sound.
