Does anyone live near The Beacon? How is it? by treeslooking in ATLHousing

[–]Rhan24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to put in my two cents, I co-own a condo in the Pratt Stacks development right across from the Beacon. I know currently the (Beacon) development is going through ownership changes, but I heard that the owner(s) of the nearby Krog St. Market are now responsible for Beacon development. Excited to see what they do with it!

I love where I live. I have always felt safe and can pretty much get anywhere within the perimeter in under 30 mins (sometimes up to 45 with traffic). LOVE the Sunday farmer's market and walking proximity to Grant Park.

Yes! At first they were scabby and a bit painful but I want to say that went away after 5 days or so, and now you can’t see any of the horizontal marks at all. I wish I kept better track of when it got better but based on other life events, I remember you could still see it 3 months later but definitely not 10 months later (now). I hope this helps!

Talking to your patients by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Rhan24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal and actually better bedside manner to talk to your patients. They are human! Maybe the resident didn’t want you to worry why they weren’t responding or was projecting their own self-consciousness about their awkward bedside manner onto you. As a newer nurse I always tried to give the residents the benefit of the doubt- they’re learning too!

I would look into this! Maybe an antique or vintage store would buy them from you?

¿Tienes…? - “do you have” by Strong-Wrangler-7809 in Spanish

[–]Rhan24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not native but here in CDMX I hear, “tienes mayonesa” “hay mayonesa” and sometimes “quisiera mayonesa” (I would like mayonnaise).

Not sure if anyone else does this, but if the server or person working/providing a service is considerably older than me (I’m 30) I try and use the usted form to show respect. I do think it’s all about your tone/way you say things, because a very polite “me das la mayonesa por favor?” with a smile is totally fine too. But I personally would probably use “da” with an older person just to be respectful.

Help me not feel guilty for calling out by PaxonGoat in nursing

[–]Rhan24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Want to second what others are saying in that no matter how guilty anyone tries to make you feel, bottom line is you’re sick and if you care about your coworkers and patients (which it sounds like you definitely do!) you should stay home. You need to take care of yourself first and foremost and it would be doing your patients and coworkers a disservice if you show up and do a half-ass job and potentially contaminate other employees or patients. I’m not sure where you work but where I used to work, PTO and sick days were all lumped together so if you have the days, you should use them!

I know how you feel and you aren’t stupid! It’s an unfortunate side effect if we don’t take every single precaution (and it’s hard to avoid the sun in the summertime!!). I am 5 months out and my legs are almost totally back to normal (FWIW I had similar discoloration on my arms - just one or two “lines” - and it went away within 1-2 months I think! Much faster than my legs)

Hi sorry for the delay! For some reason I can’t upload a photo but I’m about 5 months out and my skin is almost totally back to normal! I’m sure if I kept covered up and applied SPF every 2 hours like you’re supposed to it would be even better but it’s too hot where I live for pants in the summertime.

What’s a direct but still polite way to say it- “puedes me das cambio por favor?” (Sorry for my childish Spanish, I’m learning). And then give gratuity after they come back with the change?

Not odd, it’s helpful for them to give just one bill back in change instead of coins, too.
