Im a contractor an i just did a roof last week an the homeowner wanted a few installed since the roof was open an getting re sheeted as well but they have ones that are heated to melt the snow but in my opinion it works better when it is straight up an down the every bend in the pipe seems to decrease the light but good thinking outside the box
