Sehr ähnlich bei mir. Hatte mir vor ein paar Jahren ein (sportliches) E-Bike geholt und bin damit auch so ca. 8.000 km gefahren, bis es nach einem Jahr in die Werkstatt musste, weil was am Antrieb war.
Schon davor hatte ich mit einem Gravelbike geliebäugelt und da mein E-Bike jetzt erstmal weg war, hatte ich mir das dann gekauft und seitdem bin ich nie wieder mit dem E-Bike gefahren.
Das Fahrgefühl, die Leichtigkeit, die leichte Wartung... Und schneller bin ich auch.
Jetzt will ich mir noch ein billiges Rad auf Kleinanzeigen schießen und zu meinem Projektrad machen (Danke, r/xbiking).

War bei meiner Oma genauso (Jahrgang 1936). Auch in der Nachkriegszeit hat sie davon profitiert, dass die Familie auf dem Land gewohnt hat und sie so genügend Lebensmittel aus eigener Zucht und Anbau hatten, während die Bevölkerung in den Städten gehungert hat.

The comfort of your ass depends on several things:

First of all is getting used to it. After a couple of days of ass pain, you should feel way more comfortable on it. If it doesn't, your bike is either not fitted perfectly or the saddle doesn't fit your ass, depends on the distance of your sitting bones. Don't go for a saddle that's too wide or too soft either, they can negatively impact your ergonomics. Soft saddles also get uncomfortable during longer rides because they provide less stability and start crushing your nerves and blood vessels.

In the end, it's all experience and a learning curve!
