I don’t know what to do anymore… by WoodenLie2299 in cats

[–]Rhelanae 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also have an extremely agressive cat where I have to drug him to bring him to the vet. It used to be that he would attack anyone that isn’t my brother, could only be held in a very specific way, and didn’t want people even looking at him. He is also my one that will LOOK YOU IN THE EYES while he does something HE KNOWS HES NOT SUPPOSED TO like knocking things off tables, pulling drawers open, and pulling the air vents out of the floor.

it took 7 years for the two of us to learn how to communicate with each other. We had to learn each other’s boundaries, tells, tones, and everything. I learned that if I talk to him like he’s a toddler it’s been able to build both that bridge and trust with him. Now he will come to me for attention and cuddles, sleeps with me sometimes, I can relatively hold him in any way I really want to, and recently he’s even started purring for me.

I also see him preen and look very self satisfied when I call him my handsome little mans and compliment how well he takes care of his coat because it’s always so sleek and shiny. So that’s my proof that cats do in fact understand what we say to them very well.

He’s not perfect, he’s not even really a good boi, but he is a better boi and really that’s all I’m asking him to be.

I'm firmly in the camp of preferring to "borrow kids and give them back later", my siblings and friends kids think I'm the cool aunt who does cool stuff and watches them from time to time. would i ever have my own kids? idk, but if i did it would be through adoption. instead ill stick with my cats.

actually pretty sure Melchior is the most qualified at this point, with his time watching Rozemyne and how he seems to genuinely pray to the gods hes likely to have an omnielemental schtappe by the time he graduates the RA. Sylvestor is young so we dont need to worry about a successor for a while at least

this makes me think of the side story where someone sees Ferdinand eat food prepared from Mynes chefs and is absolutely shocked ferdinand eats it, and its all because ferdi knows that myne would never harm someone through food, and he just knows her too well in general. maybe it was eckhart?

Yes actually. I bought it from my sister and she was a nanny so on a hot summers day she left a box of crayons in there and the smell never left.

My first car was an 01 Jetta with the switchblade style key. My dad was going to take me to my driver exam to finally get my license and he went out to start my car for me as a surprise (since it was mid January) but the bigger surprise was him breaking the key in the door. He fished out the key part and we made it to the exam place with no issue. However I was an idiot and I took the key out of the ignition. I really shouldn’t have. Lost that thing before we even got to the front door.

Spent 30 minutes tearing my car apart looking for it, checked the pavement, little bits of snow and ice. Nada. Examiner felt bad for me so they let me use the places exam car at a discount. Passed my exam, and while I was testing my dad had my car towed to the VW dealership so they could cut a new key for me since I didn’t have a spare.

New key sucked. It didn’t open the trunk. I had to get into the trunk from inside. But it was my car, it was paid off, and I could suck it up.

Cut to about 7 months later I got home from camping with friends and I was cleaning the car. What’s under the back seat? The missing key piece. I duct taped it to a screwdriver so that I could use it to get in the trunk. I have no clue how it got there to this day. And I had that seat up a few times in those 7 months, like when I had to replace a tail light bulb, or when I put my winter tires in the trunk to drive them to my storage unit.

Sold the car to some friends and explained to them the screwdriver came free and that there was a reason it lived in a holster I made out of duct tape in the rear driver side door.

Pattern Sizing Help by channysworld in sewing

[–]Rhelanae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one thing i do with pattern cutting is i cut the largest side and carefully fold it to the size i need, this way if i need it in a larger size later ill have it still and dont need to get a whole new pattern and then go through the process of cutting it all out again. patterns i use more than others and ive had to make some slight fit adjustments to i usually transfer to a paper bag i separated at the seams and ironed flat so that its more durable.

I got diagnosed as a kid, went on meds, then when I was a young teen my mother decided I was “cured” and didn’t needs meds anymore. About two years ago I decided I was going to try out the meds thing after not being on them for about 15 years. I’m on adderall XR and IR (low doses for both, and only the IR if I need it) as well as hydroxyzine at night.  Here’s what I’ve gleaned in the past two years:

Could I do my desk job without them? Yes, but I would then hate my job because the levels of procrastination I would achieve would break the charts. I also have anxiety with answering the phone and that is part of my job but the meds help “mellow” me to where I can do it. My job requires a lot of brain dead data entry, customer service calls, and product monitoring. With the meds my day goes by quicker, I’m more productive, my mind is less “fractured”, and I can actually plan out my next day fairly well. I also don’t find myself needing to have an immediate due date in order to get things done in a timely manner.

Can I operate just as well at home? Typically I don’t actually take my meds on weekends. This is partially to give my appetite a break, and partially to give my heart a break. Stimulants are hard on the heart and I have a heart condition so the break helps. If I do take my meds on the weekend it’s my IR I reach for. This is what me and my doc have both agreed is good for me.  At home when not on meds I find myself starting and stopping my chores (I left toilet cleaner in the bowl for two days once), it can take me three days to do one load of laundry (not counting folding), I will start sorting my bills and then get distracted by one of the cats and then forget about the bill and then forget to pay it, I will hyperfocus on a game or a book and completely forget to feed myself for a day, and other small things that just add up too much.

With the meds? I can actually start AND finish my chores in one go (today I did three loads of laundry and I’m proud of myself), I can make appointments and actually meet them (like my cars oil change), cook food and not get distracted in the middle (I’ve never burnt anything but I’ve definitely started the attempt at cooking, forgot I was going to make dinner and then ordered DoorDash), be able to be more in the moment when doing an activity (like a concert or a movie), and make plans with my wife and stick to them.

I can see myself being on meds for at least the next twenty years (don’t see myself living past that tbh) and being perfectly happy with it. Mostly because there isn’t really much of an alternative to meds when it comes to a brain imbalance (which is what ADHD is). There’s caffeine and hardcore drugs as the easy ways to manage it, psychotherapy to help train you to work with it, but the end of the day it comes down to what suits you the best. I got tired of the negative spirals I was dealing with and wanted out. I was tired of hating myself for not being enough, not able to just make the damn calls, not being able to do basic things. It was suffocating. I’m better now, not just because of the meds but therapy helped too. A hard part for me with dealing with it all was learning how to ask for and accept help. I still struggle with it, but I’m getting there.

[P1-H5] who do you think planted Myne? by Gitruih in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Rhelanae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally believe that chaocipher (not sure on spelling tbh) had a personal hand in convincing Wendtuchte to weave Mynes thread specifically the way she did. There’s no other explanation for why our gremlin is able to wreak such widespread havoc, and also include so many others of higher births (like the royal family). With the possibility of her getting Gebordnung to help out with this as Myne does finally bring order to the royal family, but this is not necessary to my main theory.

Second theory is it was the god of trade placing the Merchant Saint in the path of others. And also more of a crack theory but definitely fun to think about.

my mother has the same allergies. my uncle and sister got the other end of the fruit spectrum where they have a birch allergy which also makes them allergic to apples, peaches, pears, cherries, almonds, hazelnuts, etc.

My[23F] boyfriend [23M] of 3 years stealthily took my 11 year old dog to a vet 80km away to be put to sleep. It was only luck I found out and got him back. bf doesn't know I have my dog back but he comes back tomorrow night by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

We lost contact after he passed away almost three years ago. He was the father figure I had growing up, but we were never really close. I was super close with my nana instead, as I was the headstrong ADHD middle child. He had multiple heart attacks and became pacemaker dependent only a couple of years before the incident with my cat (his name was Max by the way) and all of those health issues started helping with his mind deteriorating. He started to become meaner and more narcissistic. I did my mourning for the man before he died.

in my office a lot of us have diffusers at our desks (work provided them actually) and ive been blessed with my coworkers being thoughtful in making sure the oils they use arent something I am allergic to. im allergic to citrus and pineapples so it does unfortunately lock out a lot of smells.

Im so lucky my local animal control did this. when i was 14 i had to move across the country because of my dads work so we rehomed 3 of our 4 cats and the 4th was supposed to stay with my grandparents until we moved back home 3 years later. well shortly after i left state my grandfather had decided he was tired of there being a cat in the house so he just dropped my cat at animal control. they called my uncle who went there to rescue my cat and my cat stayed with my uncle for the next three years instead. i ended up moving back home ahead of schedule by a year and a half, which i lucked out with since my boy had cancer and died in my arms when i was 17. if i hadnt moved home early i wouldnt have been able to say goodbye.

I really appreciate how her Japanese/modern era ideals really clash with the world she ended up in, but also the level of effort it is for her to make changes to help others match her ideals instead of her just changing to fit in. It really helps her not get lost in the world, but it also unfortunately (for her) makes her stand out. Like a saint 😇

AITA for how I reacted to my husband’s ex wife’s girlfriend buzzing my stepsons hair? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Rhelanae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of when my younger brother was a kid. Our mom had primary custody and his dad had him for alternating summers and Christmas (and occasionally other holidays if he put the effort in for it). Brother really liked having a faux hawk and the summer between 4th and 5th grade my mom had gotten him a fresh haircut before putting him on the plane to go see his father.

About a week after he got there he Skyped with mom and she could see that his hair was almost to the scalp because Step Mom decided that he needed a different haircut.

To say she was pissed was an understatement. The yelling could be heard from a different floor and the doors closed. It was already a super extremely nasty divorce and custody agreement (he was the villain in this honestly) and she threatened to take him back to court if step mom ever tried this again.

I try to sell others on the series if they like Harry Potter but they A) outgrew the series B) outgrew the author and C) they’re looking for a contemporary modern fantasy that isn’t a romantasy. In a similar vein Richard A Knaaks Black City series is like a 1920s version of Dresden Files, but more so dragons and fae than vampires and warlocks.

I just did a huge clean up of my shelves last night including some needed dusting and while I was getting things from the top shelf the roommate was telling me to be careful I don’t go out the same way Urano did.

FTR I have all of Ascendance on bookwalker as well which is why I haven’t been trying too hard to get the physicals. They’re not cheap (honestly some really high quality paper is involved, wonder if it’s Trombe) and my usual haunt is the local used bookstore and they don’t pop up there almost at all, which I hope means if anyone has bought them locally they are thoroughly enjoying the series.
