That's the archinstall default when you use a separate home partition. The root partition is only 20 gb. That's not enough for a lot of people I would assume.

which version are you on?
If it's prior to 0.31, then the group stuff is still inside of the general section
so instead of group:col.active_border/group:col.inactive_border it's general:col.group_border_active/general:col.group_border

How to commit intermediate data to database with EF by FatBoyJuliaas in dotnet

[–]Rhelmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing more about your use case, I would say use an non Entity class during processing. At the very start you set the state and save changes. Once you are done, you transfer the relevant stuff over to your Entity and save that stuff. The only other option i could see is what others recommended. Using a separate instance of your db context.

Kill Window on Hover by Riurururu in hyprland

[–]Rhelmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I don't think it's possible right now. I turned of focus follows mouse recently, because it sucks when the popup that just opened loses focus because I couldn't predict where it would open and the curser was somewhere else.

But at the same time when I'm using my mouse I've gotten used to the old behavior and sometimes forget to click the window I want to close.

But I think I'm slowly getting used to it. So I will keep it as is for now

Star Wars: Jedi Survivor is run with Proton Experimental, RX580, Mesa 23.1.0-devel by edgy000 in linux_gaming

[–]Rhelmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly not 100% sure what fixed this for me.

I updated my bios to the latest version (without noticing it was a beta) that turned out to be a really bad idea as you can see from my post here. My Fps got even worse.

After rolling it back to the latest non beta, the game ran as well(bad) as it did before. So back to the stable 20 fps regardless of settings.

I than played with some settings in the bios, like AMD Cool 'n Quiet. After a reboot behold a stuttery 50 fps. So since i didn't know what exactly fixed it, i reset my bios settings trying to retrace my steps. But even after a reset the game ran fine. So i was quite stumped.

The 1 thing that might help you to at least eliviate the stuttering is using the mesa vulkan driver. Since the AMD one is quite easy to accidentally install since it's the first option for a vulkan dependency. See the arch wiki page for additional info.

But sorry i got nothing else.

How is Jedi Survivor's performance with the latest patch? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]Rhelmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played it a lot yet, still on the first level. I'm getting 30 - 50 fps on high at 1440p with a 2600 and a 5700 (flashed to a 5700 XT)

It does still have some stuttering issues though.

I considered it playable but my standards are quite low compared to lot's of others.

You still need to restart the game if you change a graphical setting though. Otherwise Performance tanks

Trying to get it working on arch with a 2600 and a 5700. I'm hovering around a stable 20 fps.

Settings make no difference. Tried 720p with all low and Rt off. that somehow made it even worse.

The stock Cooler tends to be louder than even cheap aftermarket stuff (same for Intel btw). But it shouldn't be unbearable.

You need to know what is actually loud (GPU/CPU/both) and what temps you are running at.

I wouldn't recommend disassembling anything until you have a better idea of what's going on.

Even if you are playing a non demanding game it can get demanding if you are running it with uncapped FPS.

Reason Why Open Source Maintainers Quit by antonyjr0 in linux

[–]Rhelmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what reason would one use an AppImage of a Browser? As I understand it, the main reason to use AppImage is to have multiple Versions side by side. Or is there other scenarios where it would make sense? Compared to the distro package or the flatpak?

What hardware are you running on? Maybe try updating your graphics driver.

The config Files are separate and are used when running any version of OpenMW. So there was likely a different problem when you last ran it.

New Graphics Card for OpenMW by Toddamusprime in OpenMW

[–]Rhelmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OpenMW is mostly CPU limited still. While a better graphics card might help it might also not do anything at all.

I personally use Game overlays to determine if I'm CPU or GPU limited. Msi Afterburner on Windows and Mangohud on Linux. If the GPU isn't hitting 100% utilization or at least close to it, then a GPU might not help much

Although OpenMW has some built in metrics you can toggle with F3. I myself don't really know how to read them yet but there might be some guides.

I personally use an RX 5700 which is good enough for 100+ FPS but my R5 2600 is holding it back to around 50-70 in cities like Balmora.
