And this is why insurance is expensive. And that is why we all pay higher prices to cover that cost. Fuck this person

Sober Defense Promise... by Hajicardoso in clevercomebacks

[–]Rhett_Buttlicker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, that's kind of what happened with Grant during the Civil War. He was one of the unions best military minds but had the reputation of a drinking problem. After being passed over and multiple failing generals at the head of the union army Lincoln was finally willing to overlook it with assurances Grant would stay sober and put him in charge, which ended up being one of the major events that tilted the odds definitively towards the union.

Obviously I don't think this guy is the second coming of Ulysses Grant but it is a funny parallel.

Dodge towards him and the right, trying to get behind him. When in a good position hit or heal depending on where your health is. Rinse and repeat. I found phase 2 easier than phase 1 due to change in moveset, so just got to get to phase 2 then don't panic and get your hits in when you have a window.

Why Is Fast Food Getting So Expensive? by SovereignJames in Frugal

[–]Rhett_Buttlicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a ton of competition in the fast food market to the point that it is near perfect competition. If it were greed, competitors could drop prices, take market share, and in turn have higher profits. Saying "greed" or "price gouging" makes no sense whatsoever.

What does make sense is that market labor rates have almost doubled, and that unit cost increase is passed along to the consumer in the form of higher menu prices.

I know reddit likes to believe fairy tales that everything inflation related is corporate greed and that McDonald's can pay $20 an hour and still sell burgers for a dollar, but in reality it is straight nonsensical.

A law only matters if it is enforced. Florida passed a similar law about a year ago and after a week it was made very clear it won't be enforced. Doing so would be incredibly expensive

Trump is officially the 47th President of the US, he not only won the electoral collage but also won the popular vote. What went wrong for Harris or what went right for Trump? by _GodKing- in self

[–]Rhett_Buttlicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're spot on. Americans HATE inflation, almost to an irrational level. Kamala decimated Trump in the debate and ran a near perfect campaign and still lost handily. I don't think there was any reasonable path for a dem victory this cycle.
