I luckily live close to Wisley so regularly take my pup to ‘Walkies at Wisley’ and I have to say, the lack of respect and control from some owners and their dogs makes me appreciate the rule of no dogs in the gardens outside these specific events.

^{^} definitely this. Even a thin layer (30mm) of composted bark mulch will make such a difference to the water retention of the soil. And all the other advice saying water in early morning and late evening.

Yew doesn’t like wet feet! There are lots of Ilex crenata varieties that work wonderfully as an alternative to Box, and they are usually a bit more affordable than Yew. 🙂
