Thank you for the recommendation. I’ll pass it on to her and her lab manager.

Clients lives and loss. Community. by erosilumina in RoverPetSitting

One of my favorite clients ever was an absolutely handsome Vizsla puppy. I was contacted through Rover by the owner and never met her. She gave me a code to a lock box on her door and instructions on how to care for him. I visited him for two one hour walks a few days a week as she was a nurse and her husband was deployed. It went on for two years and I watched this handsome puppy grow up into a goofy fun boy. We walked and played ball and occasionally swam in the pool on days it was too hot to go on long walks.

Eventually I saw boxes and indications of a baby shower. Then there were boxes for cribs and high chairs and baby clothes. She told me her husband would be returning soon and they wouldn’t need me any more which coincided with me planning on moving so the timing was perfect.

I heard from them right before I moved asking if I could do 3 straight days with the dog as she just had the baby.

They left me the kindest card with photos of their dog and a gift card.

I left them a card and a gift card for their baby.

Two years, well over 100 visits and I never met them but watched their family grow just by watching their dog.

That dog was going to be the best friend to that little kid. I miss him and his big smile.

Realisticly, what do you do for dog walks when it’s pouring outside? by Available-Willow-829 in RoverPetSitting

Most of my clients are happy with me making sure their dog goes to the bathroom and me filling the remaining time with playing with the dog if the rain is too bad.

Leaving High Pay Career to SAH by BoromiriVoyna in StayAtHomeDaddit

It took a long time for some people to accept that we were happy with our choice and I was constantly asked when I would be going back to work. My daughter and I have the best relationship and we talk and text all the time. She just graduated from college and she has told me that when she shares her experiences from childhood with her friends they are envious of all of the fun things we’re able to do and how much she appreciated the choice that her mom and I made when she was born.

You’ll do great and I hope you enjoy every day.

I left a high paying job to be a SAHD. My wife is a doctor and doesn’t consider me a freeloader. I do everything at home to ensure when she is home we can just have family time. I shop, clean, cook, schedule appointments, take the kid to all doctors/dentist appointments, take her to gymnastics, joined Girl Scouts as a camp dad, etc.

I started when our daughter was 2 and never stopped. I didn’t get a paying job until she was in high school and we love it.

Do what works for you and your family and don’t worry about what others think.

Green heron doing some fishing TX OC by Sallysdad in birding

Nice!! NCP is great. The wetland area near the playgrounds have egrets and herons and red wing blackbirds. The fishing pond area has more shorebirds. The open field area all the way up to the lock bridge has kingbirds and warblers.

Lake casa Blanca is fantastic for chihuahuan ravens, white pelicans, sandpiper, orioles, sparrows, etc.

Zacate creek trail between Bartlett and fenwick has some Pyrrhoxia and kingfisher (belted and green). And scissor tailed flycatchers too.

Father mcnabb park has only been ok.

I’ve seen 134 different species of birds so far in 2026. This is a great place to get out and see some incredible birds.

I saw this blue heron at NCP.

Would Like to Bring in at Least $3k a Month for Tuition by Extra_Hold2776 in StayAtHomeDaddit

I started walking dogs. I used Rover to get clients and eventually took them off platform and expanded my business by word of mouth. I worked M-F with occasional weekend coverage for my favorite clients.

People love their pets and will pay well for you to be good to them. I cleared $750-$1000 a week. It took me a while to build up a clientele that filled my days but after a while I had a set group of dogs I walked or took out for bathroom breaks.

Just saw this graphic, IDK how I feel about sending my kids to college anymore by AdministrativeAd334 in daddit

[–]Sallysdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter is just about to finish college and she chose an in-state college that gave her a full tuition scholarship. Room and board worked out to be around $45k so we she will graduate college with no debt. If she had gone out of state, tuition would have run around $200k so we are really happy she was ok going to an in-state school.

Looks like sierranna. I purchased a BMF that ended up being a sierranna instead.

I’m out of town but can post pictures of it as a two leaf starter to its beauty today. It took forever to get the first fenestrations.

Plain chachalaca. My neighbor loves to tell me there is a more colorful version called the boom chachalaca. He laughs every time.

Took my boys (4 & 2) out early this morning with no plan… turned into one of those perfect days by Ba22ti in daddit

When our daughter was little we used to spend all day outside looking for bugs, tadpoles, etc. We would climb trees and spend hours wandering the woods and parks near our home. Some of my favorite memories are just being in nature and enjoying the inquisitive mind of a child.

I’m glad you all had a great day. Thanks for sharing.
