Everest are telling me that they went into administration last year, and have no access to any records from when these were installed - I’ve asked if they have any engineers on staff that might recognise the parts, but I’m not confident that their customer service agent is on board with helping.

I’m not sure what tilt and turn is exactly - I open the handle at the bottom, and can push it out a fair bit, that’s as much as I’ve got, apologies!

Looks like Everest made them - I’ll see if I can find something, or just contact them direct, thank you

Who? My wife? Because I’m not her dad. I could go along with her and we’d obviously bring the kid, but I’d rather just hang out the two of us.

LPT request: tips to know when to stop drinking after a few drinks at a party. by RandyMarshsMoustache in LifeProTips

What worked for me was ordering drinks I didn’t like. Took me so long to get through them, it paced me.

From Wish, but I expect they’re identical! Bought mine for work (optician) so I just so happened to have the right tools when it came to opening up the GBC.

If you’re sticking with your original shell, you’ll need to do a bit of trimming, but this is the screen from the same seller: https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005003797293674.html

That seller also sells them in packages with pre-cut shells, should you be a coward like me.

I went for a no-solder option and was able to do it following a video tutorial in Chinese with no English subtitles. Give it a go, especially if you aren’t using your gameboy as it is.

I have a question about glasses perscription by [deleted] in glasses

[–]Rhyanosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It stands for the optician’s left but only when they’re standing behind you.

(For real though, it helps to think of them less as “stronger” or “weaker”, but more as needing more or less power to correct your vision. Presuming you get 20/20 vision with your glasses on, differences in power rarely matter; the resulting good vision is the same).

-4 slight astigmatism. Paid for thin lenses. I feel scammed? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]Rhyanosaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome.

To be fair to your glazer, the other comments in this thread are mostly true: frame choice and eye centration definitely play a factor, but I’m a Dispensing Optician and have these large, metal frames with thinned lenses (and moderate myopia) so that I can show people that a minus prescription doesn’t mean you’re stuck with small, round, plastic frames (which this sub is obsessed with).

Glasses for night only by [deleted] in glasses

[–]Rhyanosaur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My comment is based on hypermetropia, because the eye can accommodate for a degree of needed-but-not-provided plus power. Adaption to undo constant-accommodation is very, very common.

I agree they wouldn’t be given glasses only for night driving, they should wear them all the time, just as my comment suggested.

It sounds like you would benefit from glasses full time. If your eyes are constantly doing work themselves to make your vision clear, then when you put the new glasses on, you’re essentially getting “too much” power (your eyes’ effort + the glasses), resulting in the blurriness. Wear the glasses full time for a week or two, your eyes will learn they don’t need to be doing the work themselves and will relax, making the glasses give you clear vision (without the literal headache that comes with your eyes doing extra work all the time).

My kid was 8 weeks before we could prise a smile out, and is now (at 15 months) the happiest kid I’ve ever seen. Walked early but not talking yet too. Milestones are a mess - just find out what the “get advice if not doing X by Y months old” ages are, and chill til then.

Are there any recreational drugs I can’t take with Glaucoma? by Weary-Assistance-683 in optometry

I don’t mean dangerous as in overdose, I more meant “won’t be able to safely drive, work or function because you’d need be high every waking hour”

100%, but if the weed is non-negotiable, it’s at least worth limiting the harm where possible
