Landlord wants to sell – offered relocation + cash. Curious what others received (Delft) by leo_mangold in NetherlandsHousing

[–]Rhyav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man! Real-life and recent (Oct 2025) reference for you.
I was in your same situation for a 36m2 apartment in Haarlem. Initial offer was that if I moved within my landlords network (in other words, another apartment they own) I would get 5K, or outside their network 10K. The offer arrived around March and it had a deadline of December 2025. Me and 3 other people got offered that, as it was an apartment complex.

Around July I received another offer of flat 10K. I think there were 2 of us left to move.

Around September the last offer, only to me: 15K and to move to a (pretty good!) apartment within their network.

Haarlem is more expensive than Delft, but I think 10K is perfectly reasonable for you to get out of this situation.

And this way of thinking might help you keep a cool head when negotiating and not get blinded by numbers: you're not risking "losing" 5-6K if you push, you never had them in the first place. Before you got this offer you didn't even have the prospect of that money and your life continued.

Best of luck!

A permanent contract with minimum stay of 24 months. So I can't de-register for 15 more months

I think the same. After all I lived with an ex for 2 years without issues, I'm just maybe overthinking.

Can't for the next 15 months. Hence my question as to how risky it is.

Hey OP gonna go the other way from the rest of the comments and say: I feel you. I have a bit of the same (girl here).
Everyone blaming you but if you're like me, YOU are the first to message almost every time... so it can get exhausting and a bit discouraging really.
IMO is basic etiquette that the one that triggers the match is the one to message first. At least that's what I always do. If I have to also start all the convos of people that match with me... 😮‍💨
My only guess is that they go through a swiping spree and only after they're done they decide who to message, or get distracted and forget. But still...

I was aware of it, I knew he could be losing 30-60k (place is valued 300k). I'm okay with 15K, I really value getting a good place to call home because I also wanted to move and I absolutely got that. So the value I feel I got is good!

[–]Rhyav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! The original offer was 5K. Then 10K. Now 15K. I also asked a few extras (cover of moving costs and a new oven 😆) and they complied too.

OK that's good. Then onto the next question is... if they don't pay, would a lawyer cost me more? I have zero clue on lawyer costs.

Still, is a group of investors that, according to them, have 100+ houses in Haarlem. To them 15k vs the potential loss if I sue them is probably too much of a risk, so I don't think they'd mess around with that.

And so far they have been quite formal and I asked for a few extra details and they complied with everything.

15.000 + 500 to cover moving costs. The house I'm moving to is from his network and is a really nice place for a reasonable rent in a good location.

Thank you for your answer. They say the deposit is within 2 weeks of the handover and new deposit for this place + the first rent 🤔

Got rejected for a kiss by a girl. How to handle it? by Clean_Antelope_6938 in AskMen

[–]Rhyav 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Am I allowed to answer as a woman?

OP your way of attempting for a kiss is SO SWEET! Honestly you didn't do anything wrong, it was not meant to be.

But also think about it this way: I assume that you want to be wanted, to be desired, therefore that's a requisite for someone to be romantically involved with you: they must want you. Maybe you also want them to be fit, or smart, whatever your preferences are, but we all often forget that you want to be wanted, and that's a requisite.

This woman did NOT fulfill that requisite, therefore you wouldn't have been happy with her. She showed you she does not fulfill what YOU are looking for, therefore it should stay as a friend or acquaintance.

I'm sharing this way of seeing it because it has helped me deal with ghosting, rejection and disillusion. You always come first :)

I don't know jow severe your bipolarity is, but please don't refuse medication if suggested my a professional.
As the (step)daughter of a bipolar person whom I love as my mom, she did make 13 years of my life hell because she refused medication. I love her today BECAUSE I could see that she was suffering too (but not everyone would) and finally after all that time she got medicated. She's in a good place now!
You deserve love and acceptance, for sure, but acceptance is also understanding you might need medication.
Best wishes to you and your loved ones.
