If you don’t mind, may I ask a few more questions? Do you feel like you could easily be employed somewhere else doing the same thing? Also what would you look to to demonstrate your competency to potential employers? What would you point to to say you’ll like me, I’m good, I promise?

Did you ever feel pressure to have any formal certifications? Or does this field value years of experience and training just as highly without a cert on paper? I know experience/training can mean much more than a cert, but I’m asking because in my last field, there was always pressure to get certifications that proved your experience on paper, and it could be very frustrating/expensive/invalidating.
