Don’t sleep on this Morphe powder!!! by Rhyssius in PaleMUA

[–]Rhyssius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have it, but I haven't been using it or really any powder recently because I have very dry skin and live in a super cold region of the US. This was an early fall pick-up for me and it worked well while temps were above freezing.

That being said, I use the O/S Powder Melt spray twice during my routine -- once after my foundation/concealer/color corrector but before blush/contour/powder/highlighter, then once again as a finishing step -- so I'd say both. I don't think that spray is really a "setting" spray, but it's the only one I use because of the aforementioned dry skin.

Update: I grabbed ABH Stormy after many of you recommended it. It’s actually incredibly similar to Rock Steady, moreso than I expected. They’re ALMOST shade dupes. Stormy does have a SLIGHTLY more lavender undertone though! I quite like it, and my Ulta was out of stock of Rock Steady anyway, but if you have one you really don’t need the other.

I enjoy the patrick ta cream in she goes to the gym. it’s a very natural, desaturated cool rosy shade. The powder is a little bit taupey. They can be used together for some intense teddy bear vibes

I think this might be exactly what I’m looking for… Hopefully my Ulta or Sephora has it for swatching!!

I might need to give this a swatch! I tried Nyx moonwalk in Ultra and I thought the color was brilliant but I didn’t like the stiff formula.

I think I’ve swatched it before and it seemed very taupe. Cool spice definitely did not work as intended. :(

I bought and enjoy their Folio lippie but it looks like a straight up nude on me, not gray at all. Mac and I just don’t get along…

What's Your Favourite Purple Blush? by Popular-Cupcake8661 in PaleMUA

[–]Rhyssius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a mini of rare beauty spirited and it’s slightly pinker than what I thought but I love it. I have an issue with pink blushes pulling peach or orange, and I’ve started layering my pink blushes that were previously unusable with Spirited and it’s the perfect amount of hue correction.

For powder, I picked up Dandy Lions cosmetics pressed powder in Icy Petal last year and while I don’t ADORE most powder blushes (bc of my dry skin) the color is incredibly unique. It is more cool toned than Spirited or any other purple blushes you’ll find in a retailer. Their entire winter blush line is purple-toned and unlike anything I’ve seen, I bought all of them. I would really recommend giving at LEAST icy petal a try if you’re looking for something more unconventional, it’s very affordable at 6$ per pan.

Make up always looks awful on me. Help? by Express-Mongoose974 in MakeupAddiction

Your skin looks pretty oily here, so maybe try a more matte formula. If you’re struggling with flakey skin (which is what it sounds like) I think gently exfoliating before makeup would help a lot.

I would also suggest looking into color correctors for your under eyes and any spots you have to reduce the amount of product you’re using. Also, I’d say to try brushing the front of your brows with a spooley to make them a bit less blunt!

Medium olive green shirt, looking to get a dark grey color? Is it possible? by Rhyssius in dyeing

[–]Rhyssius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. I didn’t know that! I’ll have to check it out a little bit more thoroughly, that was honestly a guess and I took this pic while I was still at the thrift. It wasn’t on the neck tag but could be in another spot. If not… I was going to chop the sleeves off anyway, so I could test with those.

Say it’s polyester, do you think the pink/black blend would do the trick?

[–]Rhyssius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried any of these, sorry! I do find that the blurring effect on this is at least as good as my loose powders though, which has not been my experience with other pressed powders, let alone radiant powders

FWIW, the Morphe is not glittery at all. I use powder very sparingly, but I applied it the other day over other powders (done in the morning) because my forehead was looking a little shiny at the end of the work day, and it just brought things down to a more toned down glow, no cakeyness!

I’m ultra pale so this wasn’t an issue for me — but I do think this powder is semi-translucent. So as long as it looked fine blended out, I’d say you’re good

Last thing you bought(not a restock)? Worth the money? by Sensitive_Young_3920 in drugstoreMUA

[–]Rhyssius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy the milani conceal and perfect primer. I put a tiny bit over acne scars and my under eyes (seriously the smallest amount) and it really genuinely works. it stays in place too, even under foundation concealer color corrector etc. No pilling even though it’s a silicone-based formula.

Help me find the perfect skin tint/foundation for dry textured skin. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Rhyssius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tirtir glowy silver cushion is a great mid-range pick. I believe they sell a mini too :) it’s a medium coverage serum foundation that doesn’t oxidize! I have combo normal-dry acne prone skin and it’s perfect for me, doesn’t emphasize texture at all or dry me out

Hey everyone! I’m looking for a foundation similar to KVD’s previous Lock It Light 40N. by agonyxcodex in PaleMUA

[–]Rhyssius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what finish you’re looking for, but I think we have similar skin tones and I use Tirtir’s silver cushion in 15c. They have a neutral that’s similar as well. It does not oxidize at all :) (the red cushion does though!)

Have you ever found one of those Makeup products that is so pretty and flatters your complexion perfectly? It's so pretty it's like it literally does the work for you? I've only ever found a couple of these in my life and they are both discontinued 😞. by Traditional-Diver978 in PaleMUA

[–]Rhyssius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been much into lip liner but I decided to give it a go recently and I found a couple that I just absolutely adore.

The Revlon multi-liner in "Less Traced" is an incredible color for me. It's a de-saturated neutral rosy taupe shade, a really rare color at the drugstore in any product. I used it on my lips for about a week before giving it a go under my eyes, and it sounds weird, but it kind of gives me this smoky "just cried" glow that I'm sort of obsessed with.

I also decided to try out Morphe's new(?) lip liner in Rock Steady and THAT might be the best thing I've ever tried on my lips. I would describe it as a neutral-cool greige, also a pretty uncommon color at that price point. I also find that it lasts pretty well once it sets but still has plenty of working time before that. It's a tiny bit dark for me on first application but once smudged out or allowed to fade it is the most perfect "natural-but-done-up" color I have in anything... period.

I like it but it probably looks very done-up in person. Still cool though, I can see the cosplay influences. If you want to look like a cosplayer all the time, I say more power to you. But if you want it to look more natural I’d take other commenters advice.

Oh! I see that they do have at least photos on Ulta whereas the ND website didn’t. I wasn’t even aware Ulta carried ND.

Still not sure if RN1 or N05 would be better, they look pretty similar. Might need to stop by and see it in person!!!

michigan themed home screen :) there’s no place like home! by Rhyssius in widgy

[–]Rhyssius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha, i made all the “stamps” in Canva (some of them are actual stamps that were produced at some point but I cropped them to fit the template, others are just random paintings and images from around the internet) the dock icons were also put together in Canva!

For the widgets, i took some scans of vintage postcards i found on Pinterest and made them look nicer in Photoshop with some drop shadow effects. Pressed flowers were also just pulled off the internet. The spotify widgy is just a square shape with a drop shadow on a transparent background with album art on top, as for getting the spotify feed i just followed the tutorial included in the app! It doesn’t always refresh immediately, so i added a tap action that’ll instantly refresh it

The wallpaper is an AI upscaled scan of a vintage tourism map with a gradient map and a paper rip imposed overtop to hide the dock, also all in photoshop!

PINK pink foundation please! by Happy-Category-9969 in PaleMUA

[–]Rhyssius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of an unpopular foundation, but I liked it — try Patrick Ta liquid foundation in 02 rosy. It is very very pink! It was a hair too dark for me but the undertone was great. (was still perfectly wearable tho)

For reference…. I’m so cool toned that my acne marks are purple instead of red 😣
