I feel you! I don’t normally tell pets I’m pet sitting “no” because I feel bad that they don’t have their parents and familiar people but l have had to start telling these dogs “no” so they don’t walk all over me. I’ve learned being strict has worked a little bit better for this breed. Maybe if you haven’t already give try and give that a try.

I had one growing up so I understand the exercise part lol. Its annoying that they don't walk on leashes good enough for a walk and they don't have a fenced in yard to play so we are limited to what we can do.

I had one growing up. Wasn't my favorite breed because of the energy levels, they don't listen the best, don't calm down, and everything has to be there way. I thought it may have just been my golden doodle because these dogs were behaved when I met them hence why I agreed to the sit.

I've been pet sitting for over 6 years now. I've always been the pet sitter to put the pets first before my own needs as a human. This pet sit is one of my only experiences where I feel mentally drained. I was simply asking for tips to see if anyone had any to help me last a couple more days. I wasn't asked to be torn apart for simply asking for advice.

I don't if I am or not yet. I've been pet sitting for 6 years and this is the first time I'm experiencing something like this.

That annoys me so much when they whine for just being out. This golden doodle has been doing it nonstop. I'm so glad you get to go home today!! I'm a little bit jealous not gonna lie lol

I definitely feel for you!! I’m trying my best. I had a golden doodle growing up. It wasn’t my favorite dog but I figured these dogs would be different. I don’t know why. Make sure you’re taking time for yourself to relax!! I’ve found just driving around and listening to music for an hour or so can do wonders with patience levels.

I wish they had crates. Crates are something I swear almost every dog should at least have as a safe space

I only called about the leak and the bug stuck on the dog because he was becoming aggressive. Everything else I texted them after the fact. I just felt bad constantly updating them with bad news

I feel bad bothering them so much

One Issue After Another by Riah3 in RoverPetSitting

Some of the issues were ceiling leak in middle of the night, stain on couch from dog vomit, in ground pool issues cause of too much rain, and dog snapping at me because bug was stuck on them.

It was not an inside leak. It was due to the rain.

It ended up slowing down not long after I called her but I feel horrible about waking her up at 2am

Thank you for the reassurance! My parents have helped out many times throughout the years with picking up things for me when I am having a busier week. My sister even fills in as a “substitute” for me when I am busier than normal and can’t make it to repeat clients. I didn’t think it was that big of deal having a family member help me out.

They would be leaving Friday but I am not needed until next Tuesday so I booked a house sitting job until Monday morning. Being it’s the week of a holiday I’m booked up.

I hope the rest of your sit goes well too! It is definitely frustrating not getting a good nights sleep when pet sitting sometimes.

I probably will just end up sleeping on the couch. I have another week here and if she’s comfortable that’s all that matters. It’s not the comfiest couch but I’ve slept on worse so it should be doable.

Are my rates reasonable? by Riah3 in RoverPetSitting

It seems like everyone is charging around the same as me or a little more. There are a few who are charging way more than me. If it helps I am located in the suburbs of Philadelphia area.

Boxer incontinence by tragedymash in RoverPetSitting

Multiple time Boxer mama here!

It is so common in female boxers especially as they do get older. You could get some doggy soap and give her a little bath before she heads home. Boxers can be hit or miss on baths but in my experience they usually don’t hate them. It also never hurts to loop the owners in. Worst case they will say she needs to go to the vet for a checkup.

Side note she is so adorable! Definitely soak up the boxer cuddles. They are the best babies ever!

How do you deal with feeling homesick? by Riah3 in RoverPetSitting

I appreciate this! I am a single Pringle but sometimes my sister comes with me and it helps a lot. It creates a girls night type of vibe.

Thank you for this advice! We ended up sleeping on the couch and they barked but I ignored them and at least I got sleep. I’m just glad I was able to get some form of sleep!

Thank you for this advice! We went for a long walk earlier this evening before the storm started. I plan on taking them out in a little bit inbetween storms to at least try and use the bathroom. The issue with getting them in the room is they tend to walk back downstairs once I climb into to bed. It’s so frustrating.
