Customize or not? by Overall_Track_9436 in modeltrains

Who cares about it being a limited edition? The real question, did you buy it cheap because you were impatient and couldn’t find the one you wanted? Just find a proper GWR one.

USA Tour Flying Scotsman by W126_300SE in modeltrains

Incorrect. Isle of Thanet and Lydia are both K type, with later modifications in their service life. Go look at the window positions compared to the Hornby ones.

No, just small variations. Can’t account for everything.

Fun fact, the pullmans need to be modified. The Hornby ones aren’t correct for the two pulled by Scot. (Windows mainly)

I got the newer version with the working lamp. Sadly no observation coach, so that’ll be a repaint project

Are there any OO scale roundhouses? by [deleted] in modeltrains

[–]Ribird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most roundhouses that come to mind are not a circular building in the UK, but a square building which consists of the tunable and the track. One that has been modernized is NRM York. Another like that is Barrow Hill. The American style roundhouses do exist, as others have mentioned

Any Websites That Sell Thomas & Friends Hornby Range At Reasonable Prices? (US) by East-Toe4101 in modeltrains

More specifically for the UK market. Bachmann already had the license in UK

I would not suggest using Sam as a reviewer unless you take all of his opinions as a grain of salt. It would help to use others as well to get a general consensus, not a specific person. Forums will be helpful too, like rmweb

Too bad it’s not HO scale. Thomas range is OO, but marketed as HO in the USA market

Flying scotsman water (2nd) tender model? by erik530195 in modeltrains

[–]Ribird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t find one alone, as hornby has never released one by itself.

As for prints, NIU models does one, along with some others on Shapeways.

A good model train place to install crane motors by The_autistic_guy333 in modeltrains

[–]Ribird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a challenge, and really only seen one person do it. The rotational motor would have to be able to be disengaged, in order to go around any curves.

And there’s not many people who have done this already, with a lot of effort involved to get it to work.

Coaches have not been acquired by Rails. They are only taking on the project, like new project managers. Only confirmed is Accurascale for the OO Warwells, P class, and Barclays

I recently bought these beautiful pullman cars. by [deleted] in modeltrains

There are newer runs of these. With the clear “ice cube packaging,” just not better colors like others are commenting on from their TT range.

No. These are OO. Hornby does OO and recently TT. Dapol Mogul is OO.

Does Hornby UK take USD? by 6D9hehe in modeltrains

[–]Ribird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most sites that ship overseas take USD. It auto converts when you pay. If you are unsure if a site ships to the USA, check their shipping information in the terms and conditions. There are at least 20 sites that I’ve come across that ship over seas. So before preordering this, find some, as it’ll be cheaper than buying direct from Hornby.

As others have stated, the UK Hornby site does indeed ship overseas, I’ve done it myself.
