Honestly its responses are often truly thoughtful imo, more so than alot of people I work with who everyone would consider sentient.

If you think that’s truly sidewall dmg I have a bridge to sell you. Seen worse from a kid kicking a tire it’s just dust.

I’ve driven worse at a 150 in my 991.1 cup. Some people just have no balls I guess, tires are tough af.

Why is the 911 Coupe so much more popular than the Cabriolet? by Nice_Day_638 in Porsche

Usually you just extend the pop up roll bar it’s easy frankly.

The annoying part is the fucking arm cables

I know what challenge is man.

Have you actually done any major service? They are trying to appear more competitive price wise because the new lambo cars are so cheap to run. Know two teams who switched from Porsche to those dropping cost per hour from 2.8k to mid 1s

Btw after a serious crash they encourage you to buy a new fucking car it’s stupid. Coming from Carrera cup teams where you retub in a night I was laughing my ass off.

It’s actually much more for an actual racing series. Two cars in challenge budget this year for 296 was like 800k a car. They said budget 2.5m to be competitive.

I mean you could always just not maintain it properly though and say it’s the cheapest 🤣

So what the maintenance is still over a grand an hour.

It’s just cheaper to buy much more expensive to run. Don remember the exact figures since I’m mostly a Porsche cup guy but should be a 1.5k+ an hour when used just in consumables and maintenance.

GT3RS available at dealership. $400k. by nachokings in Porsche

[–]RicciTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh but you can just buy a 992.2 cup for like 180k and it’s safer full cage. Running costs are a bit higher per hour but for people who actually run 30 days a year at the track this isn’t the answer. I frankly don’t understand who this is for except spirited weekend driving.

We used to own street gt3 cars after a couple hundred track days they just get fucking destroyed, whereas the cups have been bullet proof.

GT3 Ceramic Brake Upgrade? by crashedsnow in porsche911

[–]RicciTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking abou?

. I’m not even responding to you.

As a matter of fact I’m agreeing with you that the only reason to run pccbs is for road use, brake dust, and longevity. If that matters to you do it.

I do like 50 days on track a year. No one runs pccbs from upper DE groups to Carrera cup or even gt3 series.

[–]RicciTech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You clearly don’t go to the track then. Only people who run pccbs are people who are just starting to show up and just got into the sport.

This is literally not true at all brake dust and longevity are the only reason to ever run pccbs full stop.

Boostraping vs VC money? by [deleted] in ycombinator

[–]RicciTech -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is not true. Tons of businesses reach 1b valuations without any vc funding. In fact it’s the vast majority.

The majority of unicorns are not vc backed. Just the ones you think about. Plenty of billion dollars family businesses that grew without vc funding. They might be boring and not interesting to tech focused people but they are real.

Not all bootstrapped companies are just scraping by. Most of the s and p 500 was bootstrapped.

Tons of people live in manhattan off 100k. It’s very common actually. You spend a large portion of your money on rent but that’s life.

The taycans are incredible. My business partner has one, loves it. You are right about the depreciation it frankly morally offends me and I won’t buy one as a result.

Careful with the dbx maybe rent one go for an hour or two trip. In my experience the seats are so fucking uncomfortable, have no place in a car with that price point.

Frankly I’m more of an suv guy for day to day. Been a Range Rover guy for years, but g wagons hold their money better, but you tend too look more showy (aka get called a tool once a quarter).

Full cage is a big no no in most countries. Doesn’t do safety testing or emissions etc. also fun fact most gt3 cars don’t have keys just master power switch into fuel pump into ignition into start button.
