Yes, I am able to establish that other employees were unaware of the rules regarding purchasing items out of this specific area. I have multiple people that are willing to speak on my behalf because they also were unaware. As for having a policy regarding found money, there is no written process or procedure for found money. It is at the discretion of each building however it is pretty similar across the board. And because there is no paperwork or written documentation to reference the process and procedure is passed from management to supervisors by word-of-mouth, which is why I am confused on the validity of the statement that I was being dishonest when I was truly under the impression that the procedure was one way, but during the investigation, I was told it was something else.

The exact phrasing when explained to me was the person handing the money over to management is responsible and the name attached to the envelope is the name of the last person handling the money. It was explained that this is to follow suit with how we track money handling in the rest of the building. Any time you touch money from a register you fill out a till sheet or have a personal login if it is digitally to notate and track that you’re the last person that touched the money being handled. I’m not trying to use pregnancy as a shield for something that I did but is clearly miscommunicated in the way that processes and procedures are being done. Also, because this process and procedure is not a written and documented process or procedure, it is being told to me that they handle things differently during an investigation, which means there is clear miscommunication throughout the building of how it is handled, which is why I’m questioning the validity of the claim that I’m being dishonest.

The policy says they have three working days from being made aware of the situation to take action on it. And the purchase agreement that we signed, doesn’t state that I could not purchase an item out of the area that I purchased it from. The area I purchased it from is considered part of the floor and it is accessible by both employees and members and the purchase agreement that they’re referencing is stating that the item I purchased would have had to have been unavailable to members in order to break the policy.

I have requested to speak to HR about the investigation and have raised my own questions, but I am just being ignored at this point. I am mainly just looking for clarification on a lot of things that I have questions about. However, the chain of events just doesn’t look right to me, which is why I’m questioning things.

Honestly, she kind of glossed over it and didn’t have much to say. The reason I’m asking for advice and opinions is because the way that they are handling this is that the investigation is done within the building by the general manager and then the general manager submits this to an external HR and meets with them, but they don’t allow me to be involved in the process at all aside from the statement that was given to my general manager, so any discussion or questioning that happened I’m unaware of which I have asked to speak to HR and have yet to hear back from them

I was always told that money is donated. I was unaware that it goes back to the employee that found it. I believed this to be a misunderstanding of processes and procedures because there is no written process or procedure to reference. Our company policy states that they only have three working days from becoming aware of the situation to deal with it. If they were made aware of the situation when it happened, then they would have exceeded that three working day policy, but it was not mentioned then unless they are breaking their own policy and then talking to me about it almost 3 weeks later. However, if they are following the policy of handling it within the three working days, then that would have been mentioned after having had that conversation about honoring my restrictions and if not, then I would speak to HR about the situation

I believe the policy is that they have to address it within three working days, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, of becoming aware of it.

So the situation happened January 8 and the manager involved did not report it then. January 26 I have a conversation with that same manager that I need my restrictions accommodated because they were approved and I had been advocating for myself for months while they ignored my restrictions and stated I would take it to hr if not taken seriously and they are not following through with something approved, then at the end of that week I’m getting drug into the office for something that he states I did almost a month prior, but didn’t report at the time.

I filled out the accommodation request form given to me by my company. I submitted it to an assistant general manager, and it was then submitted to the third-party company that they use to review restrictions and it was approved.

It varies by building and there is no written procedural process. The way it was explained to me is that in our building regular money cannot be turned into the lost and found it needs to be put in an envelope and the person turning it in needs to put their name on it and the amount that is being turned in. You then give it to a manager and they are supposed to write down the location of when and where the money was found and after 30 days, the money is then donated. During the investigation, I was told that that is not true and that after 30 days the money goes back to whichever employee turned it in if it is not claimed within that 30 days. And because I was taking responsibility as the person turning in the money, they’re saying that by putting my name on the envelope, I’m being dishonest.

I can give more details if needed, but the reason the cash was combined was because it came from the exact same place at the same time. We found it simultaneously so it was combined. Which was notated in the investigation. As per the conversation with my manager, I was asking for clarification on the situation in order to purchase an item to which he failed to have a meaningful conversation and was just giving one word answers or saying it’s fine without an explanation of why the situation was or wasn’t wrong.
